Well I got 4 out of the 5  - but the new one weights 350gms whilst the old one is only 348g !! :wacky:.
Mine arrived today: looks sweet and only 335 grams.

It couldn't be better if a member of Treklite had spec'd it for 3F's R&D department... ;)

MLD bug bivy came today :)

Plenty on room at the head if I wish to tie it up

One thing gets me though, the seam joining the mesh to the cuben seems wrong to me. They've put the mesh on top off the cuben stitched a seam about 10mm in from the two edges, then folded the excess down & stitched another seam going through 2 layers of cuben then one layer of mesh. By doing this they left the raw edges of both the mesh & cuben open in the inside of the bivy. Is this ok, or should them edges be rolled in out of the way then stitched as am thinking?

Don't know if you can make out what I mean from the photo above, & sorry if the seam is explained confusingly.
(Edit: Forgot to say, It had the nice price of $20 on the outside ticket :))

Neither fabric is going to fray - so OK on that score.
Sewing cuben is like creating a line of weakness = 'tear along the dotted line'. 2 lines of stiching is potentialy better, but an inner doesn't have the stresses on it that a fly would - so neither here nor there.
Netting will benefit from 2 lines of stiching - less chance of holes appearing where stiches pull.

So structurally I think the construction is OK. How neat it looks ???
Turning under the raw edges probably takes more effort = time = money.

All about the cost IMHO.

To my poor eyesight the stitching looks good, & I didn't think it would have much stress on it (hopefully), was sure the cuben wouldn't fray but the mesh had me worried. Thanks for your replies, put me mind at ease @cathyjc & @craige
@Lady Grey not sure I dare ask now :nailbiting:

It's probably OK but not how I'd do it tbh.

Go on then... now that you've sold that Duomid :whistling:

@Padstowe it should be OK, but it doesn't look great and isn't how I'd do it. I've seen pics of bivvies from elsewhere just simply stitched together.

Bought something a bit...different to usual me..:oops:..its NOT cuben, either..:jawdrop::laugh::laugh:

MLD....Too heartbreaking to tell...did get an immediate refund, but...The Alps won't have the benefit of that new MLD shelter, now.....:cry::cry:, nor will I.....into the trash can it went.....back to the drawing board.
