These are good too, especially on the little ones

Dug out two from me and one from Davy Junior #2 last week in Dorset. Used the O'Tom tick twister. Was not expected as we were in the campervan and didn't really spend much time hacking through normal tick habitats...

I knew that ticks were common in the New Forest but they do seem to be spreading to all regions...

Just watched a video showing how these ones are poor for the smaller Ticks.... Any experience Dave?
I saw that vid too. They seems to have changed the design since that vid was created. The narrow end is much tighter now, similar to the L shaped remover I have been using for years.

Found one on myself this morning and I haven't even been anywhere interesting. In fact, I suspect I picked it up on an overgrown riverside path in the middle of Bristol. Wherever it was, it must have been there since Tuesday but I only noticed it today, despite taking care to look. The last one I found, a couple of years ago, I also didn't notice till two days later – and also both were on my stomach, whereas I thought they preferred nooks and crannies. Which leads me to a number of conclusions:
I'm probably missing a few for each one I notice, cos it's easy to notice something on your stomach.
I wonder if they don't actually attach themselves till a day or two after jumping on board? Cos surely I'd have noticed it on my stomach before, it was there.
Or else maybe they were initially so tiny I didn't see them – although neither looked what I would call engorged when I found them.

Anyway, I tweezered this one out and probably did more damage to myself with the tweezers than the tick did.

My experience (Scotland) is that you will find some "at the time" - and then a couple of days after you get home a few more may turn up.
My guess is that some hitch a ride in your clothes/kit and take a while to "get to you".

I try and keep a lint roller in the car which has worked pretty well in the past at removing them off my cloths and pack.

Normally I don’t feel them, but the other day I felt a jabbing ‘nip’ at my waist, lifted my shirt and saw a large one, legs waving as it dug its way in.

It's when you find a nice grassy sheltered spot to sit for a break - put your pack down and get out a sit pad and some refreshment.
THEN you notice the hundereds of wee critters are swarming all over your pack, toos and sit mat - eek.
Even when you pick up your pack and move it takes ages to brush them off yourself and pick them all out of the padded mesh on your pack straps and back :banghead:
Now you need a break even more than you did before :arghh:.
