Not so much something I made as modified. I was after a windshirt as my arcteryx atom LT is a bit warm when heading up hill but more breathable than my waterproof. Looking at the prices made my eyes water until I remembered that in the back of the draw full of running stuff that hasn't been opened for far too long, was an old running windproof I bought in Nepal many years ago.
It weighed more than my waterproof did, with full length pit zips, zipped pockets and a mesh lining. I cut out the lining, unpicked all the zips and then sat down at my wife's sewing machine, which I've not used in many years. An hour later, I have a new, much lighter windproof top that weights just 155g.
I'll probably take the arms in a bit as they're fairly baggy. The fit around me is reasonably good as it's become slimmer with taking out the zips and stitching it up. I'll try it out for a few days hiking before making any further changes. All it really needs now is a coating of some sort of DWR as it's go no water repellancy at all.
I need a bit more practice at sewing so I can feel a few projects coming on this winter.
