Another pack, this one for a friend to try out over the next 6 months or so. Making a couple of loaners to see if others find them comfortable etc.

Modelled after the Pa'lante feature wise (SS/bottom pockets), crossed with a MLD Burn, considering making a few to sell next year (different to this one!) but we shall see... just enjoying making them at the mo...

X-Pac X21 RC fabric with Dyneema-X for the straps and side pockets. Venom webbing, strong mesh for the main pocket, Dyneema stretch mesh bottom pocket, stretch mesh shoulder strap pockets, sternum strap, axe loop (tucks away in the bottom pocket) and removable hip belt. Approx 45l.

Good idea to glue them, better than tightening straps all the time. What glue did you use?
I've previously done this with a couple of klymit mats. I use seam grip, with cuben tape at intervals to strengthen it. Cuben tape would probably be enough on its own. So probably would be seam grip but it might be hard to keep pressure on the join while it bonds. Together they certainly work well.

New clean pack...no fancy fabric but all stong to take the bash...atp camo...cordura etc. 20171231_164948.jpg

Updating with more info regarding volume/weight...i've used sawdust to measure volume of the bag and its generous 35L with easy 3x roll in the roll top closure....weight is approx. 270g with bungee cords/hooks but that can be removed (added the cord after the pic was taken)..

And Happy new year everyone!

Playing with a different way to make a peg bag... no bottom seam in the dxg, only one seam in the cuben and both sides of the dxg. Bit of a fiddle to make compared to the usual method but I definitely prefer not having the bottom seam. 11cm x 29cm and 6g.

Lighter by 5g than my old aluminium flashing cone, but still 9g heavier than my old Carlsberg can derived one.
(but hopefully more robust)

162g for that lot.

Watch the 'burrs' on the holes - splinters of titanium are as sharp as any needles/knife blades. I file/sand mine - takes ages but I'd rather not cut myself out somewhere I cannot keep a wound clean and dry.

What was the source of the Ti foil ? - My favourite supplier (ebay "shineline202) doesn't seem to have anymore of the "right stuff" :(:(. Chinese stuff not as nice.

Boil times with the 30ml pot (50x20mm)....

05:20s for 400ml of tap water with less than 15ml of fuel
37ml of fuel burned for 17:40, bringing 800ml to a rolling boil in 09:16.
Added another 100ml, and it took 'til 11:16 to get that back to a boil.
Comtinued to boil it until 17:05, burning out at 17:40

On a new journey
Just had some of this arrive. Not worked it yet but surface looks almost 'white' unlike any Ti I've had before. ?? :o o:

It is grade 5, a titanium alloy, the addition of Palladium makes it an alloy.
It will harden with heat, although it is harder than the previous 4 grades.
Punching and bending will be difficult without the proper tooling, but should be achievable, just don,t bend it too sharpiy.
