From the specs and appearance (plus the reticence about specifying the weight despite the 'ultralight' claim), I would doubt if this comes in at much under 1500g.

We might play an amusing 'Guess the Weight' game until we can get it verified?

Looks like the aluminium frame might just pivot inside the lumbar pad, so wear does look a possibility.

Weights don't look too different from previous versions (maybe a little more?) and they look to have kept the basic character of the packs that people like.

The updated Gorilla seems really interesting, might give it a try :) My Atom+ doesn't really work for me so last year I got an Exos 48 but it's just too much.. Hated the squeak and external frame. Ideally I'd love to try a Durston Kakwa but the GG Gorilla seems like a great alternative. The one thing that I enjoyed on the Exos was the trekking pole attachments so it's nice to see something similar on the Gorilla. If only it had shoulder pockets :(

Was it an older version of the exos? I don't think there have been any reported issues of squeaking on the latest models, mine included

It's the 2022 version, it wasn't every step but I definitely noticed it every now and then. Only used it for 3 days so maybe it would be better if packed better.

Once they run out of flat stays on the rest of the packs, they will go with tubular stays on Long Haul and other models. 2oz savings.

Wonder how that will affect the price? Interested in the Kakwa but right now I can't justify its price here in Sweden

SWD offers UltraX and UltraGrid packs and their UltraGrid is about $50 cheaper than the UltraX version. UltraX versions are made to order, but UltraGrid ones are done it batches, so that might affect pricing as well.

The big question is...
How well does it work in hours of rain? Managing sweat is only 50% of the equation. Heat going up, rain or accumulated wet, has to go down.

Will it encourage pooling at the base? Does it encourage riding up of shorter jackets and pushing down of waterproof trouser hems if their lightweight without much waistband. Eg omm kamleika, zpacks rain pants etc.

Testimonials are great but without going through them all, I didn't see one that mentions how it performs in rain.

I do the same if I've got a hipbelt or waist pack. Otherwise I just switch the the 'Ray Way' for as long as I feel the need.
