We just had our first ever murmuration of geese over the garden, in Nidderdale AONB. About 200 (mixture of Greylag and Pink Footed, I think) on the edge of being out of control in a gusty gale, all trying to stick together. They've landed about 150 metres away on a neighbour's field. More glass has come out of my greenhouse. But the good news for now, touch wood, is we still have el

I was on a second night in the Borders last night and hadn't seen the forecast update. It seemed to be getting a bit more blustery than expected, and luckily I was able to get a hint of a mobile signal and warning of gale to hurricane force winds. The Met Office app showed a dramatic increase in speed by 5am, so I packed up and walked off the hill for a little after 3am. But coffee was needed first...

Nae just the hills, although if its 85 in bervie I suspect its pretty mad up top.

Anyway powers off again, looking forward to another week of coal fires and quilts on the floor #HooseCamping starting to look at it as a second income stream now.

Much more of these winds and Scotland will have a Shetland landscape, sell your hammocks now

Bit breezy in the wondrous Nottinghamshire as well. The change in air pressure has set of a migraine.

Breezy in Worcestershire too, lovely sunny day but have been lazy all day (feeling almost back to normal after covid).

Ironically I've spent a lot of time in the past trying to convince people that Suffolk is undulating country, not completely flat!
After growing up in darkest Lincolnshire, Suffolk can seem positively mountainous in places ;)

But, as you say, Suffolk does undulate a lot. Not particularly high, just a lot of hills. On a trail run I can end up with a fair amount of altitude change from going up and down half a dozen times in 12K.

Here we go again.
Wind picked up about 6pm and power is off now. A few years back we had 2 separate 4 day outages (nothing compared to recent experience of @Charlie83 ). Anyway, I got fed up and installed a generator so we've got lights, tv, internet etc.
After years of thinking I'd wasted the money, i am now Mrs Smug 😏.
