I witnessed one in action in 2014 in the Pyrenees on the HRP.
IMO useless in any wind above moderate, owner dropped it at ~30mph fearing for it & came & slept under the TS.

thanks Gents, i was thinking of using it more for 'travelling', so nothing too adventurous.

I think you can find a bad rep for any shelter if you look for long enough, even the almighty Akto has some scathing snow themed reviews

Any single hoop shelter in heavy snow is going to have some give without extra support bud. The scarp with its extra poles does quite nicely though according to Chris Townsend/pictures but at same time wind blowing downward/low can cause sides to go right in, which is one of reasons I decided on Akto as it has much stronger poles and better side guys.

I was simply posting that link to emphasize what Whiteburn was mentioning in case Baldy was maybe considering using over Winter period.

That's why I'm always a bit bemused when the Akto gets recommended for winter so much, it's the wrong design for snow. A mid or tipi would be better for dealing with snow loads.

Or do we just regard winter as any bad weather/wind over here, I've experienced the worst storms in summer I think, what would you say Gix? :)

I don't really think most people (including myself) really think of Snow for Winter in UK. Vast majority of years and days in Winter it's simply just colder, wetter and windier?

I always hope it does snow but usually just ends up another cold/wet/windy season.

I regard winter as November to February. Whatever happens weatherwise, well happens.
I've been freezing and seen snow in September and also got sunburn.
No tent is perfect.
