Might as well go for the Hexamid tarp, weight difference is tiny.

Maybe an enlightened equipment quilt instead of the sleeping bag?

One of my mates has a Highlite (I've a Summerlite) he really rated it for Summer, think I remember him saying he had the odd cold night when we were out in Spring/Autumn, had to put his jacket on. Stitch through, usual high WM quality.

I reckon the 44l zero might be a bit big? Especially if you're planning to add any options to it (side pockets, rear pocket etc)

The pocket tarp does look interesting, think it'd be too delicate for me though, that cuben doesn't have much dyneema to it, although I guess if used with care...

Munro277 has the summerlite, he's used it a lot and I think he's used it to 5 or so below zero

255g of down isn't a lot....I would want 300g or so at zero. I'd probably want my minimus vest over my torso too.

Which is why I like quilts. No down wasted underneath. I have a hand made quilt with 250g of down and it comes in at 500g. And it didn't cost £360...!
Order an EE 40 degree quilt, I'm sure someone will buy it off you if you change your mind once it arrives. 20% off at the moment too!

No options just going to keep it simple, maybe one side pocket just for a small water bottle , yip! I agree it does look delicate but it will only for weekend stuff and not used all the time ,as you say, use with a bit of care ...

Thanks for you input

Have the WM Summerlite.
Used my Winter Sl bag last week but got too hot so went back to the WM.
I have enough space in mine to fill in the extra space in the bag with down jacket, when it starts to get a bit chilly at 4a.m.
There's not too much difference in the weights of the 44/60 ltr, ZPacks Zero/Arc Blast. If you had the 60ltr, extra space for food and you wouldn't have to 'scrunch' down your Sl Bag too much either; the top rolls down, so no probs. You may be glad of that extra space in Winter.
Even a Hexamid Solo-Plus at 9ft long comes out at less than 200gms and that's with the beak. Gives you more liveable space.

Specs from ZPacks;
Pocket Tarp - 88g
Hexamid Solo Tarp - 105g

For a tiny 43g you can also add a beak to the Solo (but not the Pocket).

There are places I'd save 17 grams but using a pocket tarp isn't it.
If you read the spiel ZPacks made the first few by accident - I think that's a sign that they aren't really up to ....much.

Also, the HexSolo is only $10 more.

Have you considered this?

Using a quilt with a CCF mat isn't ideal as it causes condensation and a Superlite won't be enough insulation for 1/2 of the year with nothing else. You could always put some mylar underneath it though?
