Looks decent.

255g in medium seems OK, till you realise it doesn't have a hood. The trusty old Forclaz MT100 from Decathlon, has a hood, and even though it's also filled with 800 FP Down, its only 279g in Large, a mere 24g more. Just like the Alpkit it's stuffs away into one it's own pockets, plus it's a lot cheaper too...Only £59.99 vs £99.99.
Actually, there is an MT100 without a hood too, and when you compare pictures of the two side by side it would appear they are exactly the same product! Probably made in the same factory just badged differently...The extra double the price is just Alpkits markup over using Decathlons cheaper product but with their own label.

It's 180g in Medium...Almost double the weight of my Rab Phantom in Large!
Good luck wearing the phantom with a pack that weighs more than 2kilo in driving rain for more than hour.
I use the phantom and it's Definately not a 3 season rain layer and the hood is one of the worst in category.
It's a get out of gaol UL layer made for runners. Not a trekking jacket.

I know where I'd rather work.

Doesn't look exactly the same to me but the design of this category of garment are pretty generic from any brand. You go from 'appear' & 'probably' to catagoric. 🤔 I'm not justifying the price difference but spec & economies of scale will play a part.

It's difficult to workout from that review whether Columbia have redesigned/improved the hood. Priced $200 in the US, £250 in UK. Hmm....
Hood looks similar to the wildrain model. And the soft Interior. The wildrain is heavier though, with it's pit zips, back vents, 3 pockets and covered zip and possibly heavier fabric.
Always a quandary to have the beard in or out.... Detachable beard bib/gaiter would help 😂

Anyone seen anything similar more locally? Some sort of light active fleece arm warmers?
