Hello

Finally got round to registering - been an occasional lurker for a wee while.

Looks like a great site.

I've been an infrequent stravaiger for a bit over a decade - did a bit of hill-walking prior to that point.

Work and young family mean that I usually only get away once or twice a year. Being based in Orkney means it takes best part of a day to get anywhere, and a day to get home. Still, manage to cram as much as I can into four-day trips. Spend a lot of my limited time away wandering about Sutherland. Use public transport for pretty much all my walking - which generally makes for more interesting trips. As likely to be found wandering in lonely corries as highest peaks.

Still struggling to define the words 'luxury' + 'necessity'.

Cheers!

Thanks all!

Yep, Bopdude. That's def always the case! Lived south in Glasgow for a good few years and totally failed to take advantage of the fantastic adventures on our doorstep back then. I try not to take Orkney for granted, honest!

Cheers Munro277. It's a bit grim indeed. All that lovely snow seems a dim and distant memory now ❄️

Hi Freepole. Went to Shetland once and loved it (almost Hebridean scenery but fewer midges). Orkney a treat still in store. Welcome to this site - you've found the right place!
