Thanks for that link. Enjoyed it. Lets hope no one takes the 'brought some firewood' literally and starts a fire out somewhere in the Peaks."Stuff minimalist, miserablist bikepacking. We're... taking some watermelons and a pineapple up Stanage Edge."
Range anxiety? 180 miles! With the double battery so presumably 90 on one. Price? They didn't mention... and I'm not going to look for it!Thanks for that link. Enjoyed it. Lets hope no one takes the 'brought some firewood' literally and starts a fire out somewhere in the Peaks.
Probably a bit too expensive for me and not my idea of fun luggin all that gear about and the 'battery range anxiety'.
Excellent. We just watched episodes 3 and 4 yesterday.
Part 5 of a brilliant series of videos. A breath of fresh air compared to the majority of content posted on You Tube nowadays
His stuff is uniformly excellent, some great trips to less commonly visited places, especially in eastern Europe.Excellent. We just watched episodes 3 and 4 yesterday.
This one popped up in the YT side bar & had me & mrs in stitches (thanks if you're a member here)
The Geordie Backpacker on a 2 mile round trip to test a tent.
It was his thoughts on his Thrudark coat that had us laughing with the repeated tilt of the mission patches to camera. Got the both of us randomly doing it & saying 'Thrudark'

Despite that, a big Montane coat & other spare clothing it was a bale out due to the cold
Could be a trend as this bale out account popped up a few days later along with plenty others in my YT sidebar I've not watched. And all because he forgot his 9 inch Eastons (but had other pegs). Having never carried 9" Eastons before I'm surprised it was such a factor. I have actually just got the MSR Core 9" equivalent to try & give some variation to my usual peg mix but only tried them on one trip.
Packing inadequate equipment
Ive just seen this now so didnt get a chance to respond...This one popped up in the YT side bar & had me & mrs in stitches (thanks if you're a member here)

Aye - got to thank you again for that. Still bringing joy.Im glad that my obvious happiness of what is a rather nice jacket brought you some kind of condescending joy to you and yours?
Distance - you must know it's become a youtube trope for wild camping/backpacking 'content providers' to walk just a few miles before imparting their wisdom to anyone who will watch giving a verdict on a tent or item that they've only just got, often for nowt. They love it so much they often have something different next trip. I guess me mentioning the distance was short hand for 'here we go again'.Im not sure why the distance matters? I had a short amount on time to get out and wanted to test the tent.
Lessons learnt may have been more valuable content. I guess it may have been in a subsequent video - I'm not a subscriber. What were they? You seemed to be well kitted out. Coming down with a bug maybe? I've no criticism of the bail-out even though it has become another youtube drama trope. Would have been a concern if you'd been a days walk from your car or other place of refuge.Plenty lessons learned from the trip. I was freezing and nothing I did kept me warm (hot bottle, extra layers). Sometimes it just doesnt happen and its better to get off then sitting freezing. It actually seemed sensible to me
Anyway, all entitled to your own opinion and if im willing to put on youtube I have to accept criticism. Cheers.

Did you figure out why you were so cold? What is your sleeping pad and sleeping bag rated to?Ive just seen this now so didnt get a chance to respond...

That’s fair enough. I try not to take myself too serious. It came across as more condescending than laughter no qualms if it’s the latter . I’ll make sure I include it in my next video!Aye - got to thank you again for that. Still bringing joy.

Aye - for sure. I don't hunt these video's out but if it appears in my list of suggested video's it's there for my entertainment. You made us laugh with your arm's forward Thrudark pose. Laughing at that is not critisism. I thanked you for it. My mrs or mates would laugh at me if I'd of done it believe me! All of my backpacking buddies & me have things we're living down & causing amusement decades later. I'm still living down lightweight thongs, Brynje string vests & more! They're all Geordie Backpackers. I'm an incomer but likely been in NE as long as you. 3 of us have been winter backpacking together for nigh on 40 years. We're a tough audience.
It was wet. Maybe it was the tent?Did you figure out why you were so cold? What is your sleeping pad and sleeping bag rated to?
No idea of the reason like you say underlying bug but didnt want the focus on “bailed” more on giving the tent a run out. I didn’t get warm before getting in my bag which was a big mistake! Plus I figured that possibly the size of the criterion bag meant it was pretty tight compressing the down…
btw - lightweight thong pics or it’s not true!!
sure . Not the equipment but me. Got to use it to know.
None at all.It was genuinely funny even if unintended but will have been an element of condescension but that's human nature & there so much ***** on youtube you'll likely catch some of the flak towards it. Tough audience as I said. No hard feelings I hope.
I wondered about that with all the post-pitch wandering about in the cold or even compression from within.
Fortunately will never happen! I'm sure there are no 35mm transparencies of them anywhere - way before the digital camera & smart phone era!
A misjudged purchase from Binns of old. I came across them & thought light, minimalist, synthetic - got to be worth a try.
'My Wild Camp from Hell - minging G string cuts my arse in half' Could garner myself a few subscribers!
None at all.
you'd nail it with that title - you sure you havent thought about this before?!
