Space wise, the Dipole DW is more like a spacious Notch. For winter with a dog, i would stick with the Scarp or Strat 1.I’m looking to save over 1 kg from my winter pack for medical reasons (arteries split 10kg load) .
Currently use a scarp 1 and it’s on the hit list for some of those weight savings.
I was set to get a strat 1 for me and the collie as it’s a reasonable weight saving but good size vestibules for cooking in winter…..now I’m thinking the dipole looks similar interior and porch size to my scarp and saves even more weight than a strat 1
I do have a xmid 1p but am I right in thinking the dipole will be more wind worthy and all round sturdier tent than the xmid for winter?
The strat 1 poly was what I looked at but it looked slightly smaller living space than the scarp meaning the dog would be in the porch (or sidecar but that increases weight too much) ) The Strat li gives more living space and perfect in every respect except the significant price increase and large footprintSpace wise, the Dipole DW is more like a spacious Notch. Dipole is on par with Strat for being wind worthy, so from what other users have said, it would be sturdier than an Xmid.
If you definitely want to switch from the Scarp i would go with a Strat (Li?..)
You keep a border collie inside the inner tent after it jumped into every puddle along 15 mile trek and rolled over every other sheep droppings? The strat 1 poly was what I looked at but it looked slightly smaller living space than the scarp meaning the dog would be in the porch (or sidecar but that increases weight too much) ) The Strat li gives more living space and perfect in every respect except the significant price increase and large footprint
I could sell my scarp to fund some of it but I don’t think I could bring myself to let go of an iconic design that the scarp is.
Get the Strat Li, you're worth it...The strat 1 poly was what I looked at but it looked slightly smaller living space than the scarp meaning the dog would be in the porch (or sidecar but that increases weight too much) ) The Strat li gives more living space and perfect in every respect except the significant price increase and large footprint

He eats the sheep droppings before he treads on them so we’re all good thereYou keep a border collie inside the inner tent after it jumped into every puddle along 15 mile trek and rolled over every other sheep droppings?
Only downside of the mutt is having to carry ccf to cover the entire floor for that exact reason but it’s not the biggest weight penalty to be honest. The Strat Li is not horrendous with regard to footprint.
Space is good as is stormworthiness.
You might want to protect the GS and pretty delicate inner from Fido though, unless said pooch is well disciplined
Hush now, you'll be giving @cuprajake a fit of the vapours.am I right in thinking the dipole will be more wind worthy and all round sturdier tent than the xmid
Well I did spend days salivating over a duomid with Ali inner but wasn’t sure about footprint size being a bit tricky to find pitchesI would stick with your Scarp unless you want to venture down the Mid route.
I have both X-Mid and Stratospire 1 and agree that the Stratospire is a little bit better than the X-Mid in strong winds (and the X-Mid takes a little more effort to get it pitched really well in those situations). But personally it wouldn't be enough basis of a purchasing decision unless other factors, eg porch space, were in play (I bought my Stratospire as a winter tent before the X-Mid solid was available and find that the X-Mid is more prone to panel deflection, but the poles move less and it seems noticeably quieter in wind).Dipole is on par with Strat for being wind worthy, so from what other users have said, it would be sturdier than an Xmid.

The Strat Li is a cracking option with a spacious inner and lovely big porches….its the price tag that’s giving me kittens.I have both X-Mid and Stratospire 1 and agree that the Stratospire is a little bit better than the XC-Mid in strong winds (and the X-Mid takes a little more effort to get it pitched really well in those situations). If I were wanting a noticeable step up in wind performance it might be worth looking at the Stratospire Li or Ultra as the outers will be more rigid under load
it's public, at least I can see it.The Dipole 1 DW in snow. The report is probably only accessible to BPL members, so I'll just say that it did well.
That is the stuff. Best to dilute so it can be painted on neatly for a clean finishMy Dipole 1 DW arrived today, forgot to add the seam sealing kit.
Having never seam sealed a tent before - would this be the guy to use https://www.gearaid.com/products/seam-grip-sealant-tent-silicone
This stuff (may be cheaper elsewhere) is easier to use as it doesn't need diluting. My Dipole 1 DW arrived today, forgot to add the seam sealing kit.

I don't know about the UK, but in the US and Canada just about every auto parts store carries it.The Permatex is in a local shop
Looks the same in Australia.I don't know about the UK, but in the US and Canada just about every auto parts store carries it.
