Thought it might be interesting to get an idea of how many nights spent under canvass, sil etc members have got under their belts this year.

Terrible summer here with smoke everywhere I want to go. Finally clearing up. Not been since early August.

I've been lucky enough to squeeze out thirty nights so far. I've a few more multi-day trips out planned which should take me to around 40 something days. I've been really rather lucky with being able to find so much time. I've also tried to make a habit of asking myself, on those wet and windy mornings, "would I regret it more if I didn't go?", the answer is invariably yes; a mind set that has led to some rather sodden but enjoyable days out.

Only 2 :arghh:
Had planned more after recovering from 5 arm ops but then the daughter came back from Uni and got a summer job that required lifts at evenings at weekend :arghh::banghead::punch:
One day i will be free......

54 that I can recall so far.
Though 10 or so have been in a WP bivi bag.

And 5 of the nights in a tent were at music festivals, and another half dozen or so on campsites...

wasn't going to include the festival ones, which leaves me a total of 3 nights. More than last year, much fewer than next year, I hope :)

Somewhere around 30, mostly in the Pyrenees, about 5 in England. I’m hoping to carry on into winter thanks to inspiration from stunning winter camp pictures in this forum, particularly @Munro277, @WilliamC and someone in Ireland, maybe @Padstowe or @murpharoo who posted iced bivy pictures last winter. (Not that I have the slightest intention to sleep in an iced bivy btw, but the winter light was so lovely).

23 so far. Hoping to make it to 30 but not holding my breath. I'd like more but tbh I think I've got it pretty good with my OH who doesn't mind me being out as long as we can sort childcare without too much hassle.

Five but as four of those were at a music festival I think only the one counts. Nowhere near enough but given my (lack of) health this year it'll do.

I’ve had a bit of a crappy year for getting out, been too busy with real life a lot of the time.

A quick tally gets me to 27 but I’ve probably missed a few

19 for us. We've been getting in around 40 for the last few years but won't hit that this year, mainly due to house hunting, house buying and moving in the first half of the year.

I counted at least 53 nights on trail so far this year but then it gets complicated - nights in a tent, in a biwi, in a barn/winter room, bivacco or similar basic shelters to staffed mountain huts and the odd albergo or monestry - no idea what I should count (no hammock nights to worry about ), so for simplicity, I stay with "nights on trail" (that is excluding nights at any kind of "base" to hike from) :)

Not that it matters one bit, but I would count nights under a shelter carried (or without a shelter if cowboy camping) and nights under a shelter not carried (i.e. hut, hotel etc). Or do as you do and count all trail nights. Or forget nights and count days out hiking (though obviously not for this thread).

@WilliamC I used to count altitude meters climbed per year - initially out of curiosity (how many everests..?) - but that became too tedious and predictable so I gave up couple years ago...
