Great Idea: Poncho stone pockets

One of the problems with ponchos is flapping about in the wind which is why they're pretty useless on these fair isles. This problem is even worse with those made of 15d silnylon which is where the big weight savings are found.

However, what if there were say 4 stone pockets on the bottom of the poncho. Let's say they're made of stretchy mesh with a shock cord closure. When it's getting windy and the poncho user is regretting their gear decisions they can simply add 4 stones to the pockets and it's no longer flapping around so much. Combine that with shock cord around the chest and upper leg areas and we have improved the poncho.

The bottom of my Cu poncho barely flaps - mostly the arm openings do but string for belt helps (but rarely needed)...
