Well, to be fair, @DuneElliot hasnt been on the forum that long and might not feel comfortable just setting off a thread in a new direction without getting some preliminary feedback.
I’d guess there are a lot of lurking readers on this forum, beyond the die hard regulars, and some may well respond to a singles walk proposal if Dune starts one. Worth a shot.
I had a look at the meetup website. The main problem is they totally innundate your inbox, second they were mostly really young and third Dune is a very experienced hiker while those groups tend to people who will walk 7 miles to the pub, not women with a duplex and a pack of fine dogs. She is much more likely to find like minded hikers lurking on a site like this, Id say.
Go for it. Set up a walk when you’re in the uk.
Instead of speed dating, peak dating, why not

Well it tripped me up nicely
You're not the first to have made this mistake Cathy
And anyhows those trews look pretty tame in comparison to what you see chaps sporting round these parts...
Especially during the festival season
Where ??!! Have to admit, I’ve met a few nice men up here, very fit n gorgeous but none in orange trous yet.
Or do what I do, pick up a bloke you fancy and show him how to pitch a tent.
If you are lucky in 2 years he is buying you an ice axe as a birthday present.
But where do we "pick up these blokes" if we're always out on the trail?

Mmmh … I think I've been thru' all those stages with my hubby .
You know what @cathyjc ? I think there is a definitely a pattern emerging here ..
I was living in a tent when i got together with my B.F.
And i've definitely received an axe as a birthday present on at least one occasion.
Maybe we should start a 'Tips for Success with Dating Outdoors Women' thread
