A Shangri-la by liteway

I was once again thinking about this shelter and the cat cut on the Silpoly version. Since its winter now in Sweden and when I toook a walk in todays windy weather I wonder if spindrift will be a real issue? I mean can you pitch it tightly to the ground if needed? Just to get the thread going again ;D.

Well, idk of this shelter is cat cut, it looks like sl3/bach/whatever straight copy.
But no, usual liteway shelter you can't pitch it so low to block spindrift, you have to seal it with snow.
that's how cat cut looks from inside of pyraomm plus, pitched as low as i actually could on that ground (i priority sleeping side gap).

I think you could pitch it like really, really low, so hem would... sprawl? idk the word. But i havent' tried to do it.

I think Daniel talked about the design a few posts back and he mentioned the cat cut. If Im buying this it would be a shelter that I would use year around and sure you can seal it with snow but it would be nice to be able to pitch it to the ground too wouldnt it? :)

Only Daniel pitched that particular shelter, but to me it doesnt look like it has cat cut at all.
But considering the other liteway shelters, their hem forms an ark. It's great feature, but i wouldnt like that in a snowstorm without sealing with a shovel.

i think its a thing with silpoly aswell, i did message Evgen to see about making them straighter.

As far as Evgen explained to me, another cut is impossible with a fabric that can stretch.
Therefore, versions with Dyneema or UltraTNT are completely straight at the bottom and can have as small a gap as possible with the ground.
But versions made of any polyester or even more so nylon - must be like that, otherwise it is physically impossible to create a correct cut for them.

The original nylon Golite Hex (SL3) has straight edges? 🤷

Hmm, IDK then :D
There must be reasons why different cuts are used for different fabrics.
It would be an interesting discussion from people who actually make such things)

Possibly because on the Liteway, each side is one triangular piece rather than 2 pieces with a vertical seam. (Though actually the door side on a Golite is also one piece with no vertical seam!)

the last update i had was, they've made the bottom line more even and added extra tie outs on each mid panel

+ it will be a little bit asymmetrical with 3m x 2.8m footprint size.

So the length of the sleeping place, according to my calculations, at a height of 40 cm, will be ~2.3 meters along the outer tent and ~2.1 meters along the inner tent😍

It's even better than in Pyraomm Max, despite the fact that the tent weighs at the level of Pyraomm Plus. Of course, the edges will be beveled and this is in the longest point, but it will still looks great.

+ I hope that this design is quieter in the wind than the classic pyramid, since it has more narrow sides and more points of contact)

@Daniel Any reasons for you to pick this hex style mid over your oct style Tipik Aston? And will it get mid panel tieouts?
i find them easier/quicker to pitch and a little more forgiving on uneven ground. my main interest was a dcf version but had to settle for ultra, could you imagine the pack size of a octo style in ultra😳
