My daffs are out now, they are in a long planter that my mum made up a 20 years ago, long before she passed away. The funny thing is, we are a month behind the rest of the county up here, but her daffs are always the first out.

I bought one today, I can’t slate something unless I’ve tried it :D I managed a 20 % discount though.

Decent discount but still overpriced imo when there are better HEX pots/stove combinations that are faster boil. I'm not one for being bothered about boil time however within context of these pots that's the sole purpose of getting them. I would be interested in seeing if the Stash combo is better at fuel efficiency though than the cheaper/faster alt combos.

Yes of course :) as soon as it arrives - I’ll do it with 5mph wind as well - I can’t see the Stash being much of a completion for the Windmaster, can you?

Well it would appear to be that way according to Messner's video. Your modded HEX pot was an old Jetboil?

There is all that, but I just thought it looked neat. I like compact packages

But the driver was a 20% discount that was about to disappear so I thought I had better use it up

Yes I’ve got a ‘sawn off’ JetBoil - but I also think the Fire Maple HX pot will do as well. I like the FM HX pot, it’ll take a 230g cart and still have space for a spare pair of shreddies :D

My only (but significant) issue with that review is the repeated assertion in it that Ocelot windscreens "pack away into mug-sized cookpots".

I only have the Soto Amicus Ocelot windscreen so can't say this is the case for all of them but it certainly does not fit into narrower pots in the 750ml or less range - the burner plate is too large for this.

I like my brew kit to fit inside my pot and that's not possible with the Ocelot, so I'm not planning to use it.

That’s about the sum of it, or at least that’s why I’ve been doing a bit of fiddling :D I can’t bring myself to do indoor YouTube for an outdoor channel though; it sort of feels ‘wrong’. Roll on the 12th or whatever date turns out to be legal again
The stay at home law ends on 28th so technically you could wild camp on and after 29th? Unless they vote to extend the laws until 2034.....

So , I just checked and the Ocelot: Soto Amicus easily fits inside my Evernew Small Pasta pot (700ml) and it is a narrow 700 ml mug at 93 mm / 3.6" and has plenty of room to spare. The burner plate is about 84 mm wide.

The ‘stay at home’ rule will end on 29 March but many restrictions will remain in place.

Id love to be out sooner, but I don’t believe nights away from primary residence are permitted until April 12th. That’s when single household B&B etc are open ring up along with campsites (provided they don’t have communal facilities).

I could be wrong, but that’s how it’s being interpreted around and about Dartmoor :)

Not with a gas bottle too though, which I'd say most people want in there.

Why? The gas canister is the most robust element of a cooking system, you can throw it almost anywhere in your backpack without fear of damage. Our philosophy has been to protect your kitchen kit by storing it inside your pot/mug. There is enough room to add all of the other essentials, lighter, pot lifter, etc. My 2 cents.

It would have to sit flat on the base for that & given the base plate has a windshield that attaches to it to go round the outside of a pot, it was never going to sit flat in a pot that it can be used with.

BTW, I just check and I can fit the Ocelot: Soto Amicus inside a Snow Peak 700 along with the 110 gram fuel canister. Windscreen first, then put the stove through the burner plate and load into the mug. Invert the canister and it fits (Snow Peak 700 anyway.

I would attach photo if I could do it directly and not us a URL address.

I appreciate the efforts, Jon, but I've tried that and every other which way and it doesn't fit in my Toaks pot so you can fit the lid. I got it close but only by some bending of the burner plate that still left the lid off the pot.

I get that you have a novel bit of kit and it might suit others but it doesn't me. I've made a better (for me) heatshield with a thin sheet of Titanium and three magnets - the Ocelot is now in my 'recycle' box.

The problem might be just with me but if not then my suggestion is that you look for a way to make the burner plate smaller.
