I love my Astralite so much. I miss the original minty green colour, but when they replaced it due to the shell material issues they sent me the longer one which is worth the more somber grey colour!

Here it is in action, cowboy camping in the Dolomites:

I have both the Mythic Ultra 360 & 180 bags (bought when heavily discounted) - fantastic kit
I've been using the Mythic Ultra 180 for years now, and combined with my home made SSM2 (Side Sleepers Mat Mark 2) my sleep combo is still a lot lighter than Rab's new "Lightest" Mythic Ultra 120 + Ultrasphere 4.5 Sleeping Mat combo, and no doubt, a whole lot warmer too. Much of the difference is down to the weight of my CCF mat, compared to using an inflatable mat like RAB's Ultrasphere,. It's more than double the weight of my CCF mat and it's not like it's even the lightest inflatable mat out there as it's around 120g heavier than Thermarests NeoAir Uberlight.

So this SSM2 sounds intriguing. Shown anywhere on the forum? I just don’t think a CCF type mat would be comfy enough for me.

As I'm a side sleeper I don't need a standard 500mm wide mat, like a back sleeper would. My mat is only 280mm wide (11") except where I have knee pads on either side which are attached with velcro, where it's 560mm wide. It's made from several WWAGO sit pads taped together with duct tape. They are the lightest CCF sit pads you can get (only 23g each) and they 380mm x 280mm x 7-8mm thick. They also have a neat trick...They fold down to just 1/8th their opened out size, allowing my mat to fold down to a cube-ish shape about 150mm on each side, making it easy to fit inside by backpack with the rest of my gear instead of having to be tied to the outside, as most CCF mats have to. WWAGO pads come in various different colours and until recently you could pick them up for about 60-70p each on Aliexpress...They are at least double that price now.

what are the odds of a decent quality bag regaining loft after about two months in a compression sack. and how much penalty i should give it when planning.

i've unpacked it, cooked it in the sun a bit, let it loft for a day, and its loss of loft is significant and visible. given i bought it in 2019, still, it's 850 fp bag that i can't really afford to replace right now.

I remember a YouTube video that said to give a long compressed bag two weeks to loft and it should be ok. I’ll see if I can find it.

Have you tried giving it a session in a Dryer on low heat?

Happy new year all...I'm now in the market for an ultralight winter sleeping bag and as I already have the Rab Mythic Ultra 180 which I love to bits, obviously my attention turned towards looking for Rabs plumper, warmer but 150g heavier 360 version. Only to find the all black outer original version has been discontinued and replaced it with a sort of half whitey/grey and half black version, which has exactly the same specs as the original and is still the lightest sleeping bag in the world for it's warmth profile.
Apart from the two tone colour of the Pertex outer, the main difference is the price. The original all back version was selling for around £440 at Trekkit before it sold out, and I would have happily paid that price for one in an instant now, but imagine my shock when I found the new bi-colour version in regular length is now selling for a cool £629!!! That is way too much of mark up for my liking!
However, if you buy one direct from Rab it's even worse...They want a utterly ridiculous £740 for one!!!
I really don't see how can Rab justify such a huge price hike just for a slight change of outer colour, when it's exactly the same sleeping bag otherwise, and I think it's absolutely scandalous!
Does anybody know of anyone selling a second hand all black version?
