800g it's roomy, has a baffle, really comfy, doesn't loose feathers and has pad straps.

Really impressed with the thermarest sleep stuff pads and bags

I often really like the design offerings by thermarest, mountain Hardwear and the like, but more often than not the down is quite low quality by today's standards. I wouldn't want anything less than 800fp today. It's kind of the sweet spot for weight/warmth. So long as it's designed well that is.

yeah i get what you're saying - but ive slept in -3/-4 in the other bag and have been fine, they fill more on the top vs the bottom, adding a warm mat it works great for me atleast, and a better bag than the sd nitro 20(800fill) i bought in an effort to replace it,

I must admit, I’m panicking a bit with the forecast of 2c in the Lake District tomorrow night. I’ve never used a quilt before and was hoping for temperatures of around 6c. I added the Switchback and a Hunka XL to my pack but I think that I’m just packing my fears.

I have a Prolite and warm sleeping clothes, those temperatures won’t kill me, they’ll just be uncomfortable so I just need to get a grip and try it out and see what happens.

I assume you're taking some sort of insulated jacket? (Down/Synthetic). Drape it over the bottom half of your sleeping bag, if you feel cold, put it on.

I always take sleeping gear to suit the forecast, my insulated jacket is insurance in case i get it wrong and has always been more than enough.

Think the biggest problem is currently we are daily seeing all the seasons,

went for a walk on tuesday evening, wrapped for rain in waterproofs, as earlier on the day we had wind, hail and rain

was only cracking the flags

I Always pack a thin puffy down during shoulder season if temps shift cold or for late night chats. Incredibly warm over mid layer under wind shell. Can use it so many ways.

I've used my WM Astralite for the last two weeks, I'm pretty impressed. Ice on the tent doors a couple of nights bivvying at 2000m. TAR 'Womens' mat.
Sleeping in 60gsm Alpha pjs with down socks and a beanie.
It's rated at -3°C and I think it's about right considering I sleep colder as I'm older....

I love my Astralite so much. I miss the original minty green colour, but when they replaced it due to the shell material issues they sent me the longer one which is worth the more somber grey colour!

Here it is in action, cowboy camping in the Dolomites:
