I didn't realise that where St Nick was born was so well-known! Perhaps I should have gone with my initial choice of photo and clue: the site of (currently-thought-to-be) the world's first lighthouse.

But it seems to put the Pharos at Alexandria at the oldest lighthouse in the world and that's not it.
As far as I am aware it's at the bottom of the harbour now. So .....

Supposedly, the Pharos was modelled on this one at Patara. At least, according to the current excavators at Patara. but then, I think there's a tendency for archaeologists to think that their sites are special.
