Whats New? - A discussion thread for new gear

I'm onto my third pair of the original Roclite 286's.
The upper has always fallen apart long before the tread wears out and the GTX goes long before anything else.

So on the new version - the upper Cordura mesh will need to be very durable to make it worth having an extra durable graphene sole.
And neither is much use it if the GTX fails early on .....

I'm on my second pair of roclite shoes and the sole on the previous one had worn away whilst the top is not too bad - relegated to road walking now

Look like they are based on the old xtalon 230 boot... Which rock (I've a pair I got generously from a member here iirc? ) as a fell boot for short distance as they're without a rocplate

Whilst we're talking about footwear, was it you who was talking about some really good socks that as far as quick drying was concerned?

I've had a lot of Roclite's, various models. The sole has worn down on all of them before the upper has gone.
Bozena (my wife) has had a lot of Roclite's, various models. The upper has gone before the sole has worn down on most of them.

It's probably down to walking style and/or our relative weights.

Speaking of boots.

Looks like they dont dont the salomon x alps anymore, I cant figure what they have substituted them for.

Closest thing seems to be the X Ultra 3 Mid, but it doesn't have the same sole construction. Shame, I'm using them for mountain walking at the moment and they are great.

2XNitecore NB10000 are lighter, going by the specs, plus you have a degree of redundancy, but slower charging, both in and out.

I thought that but couldn't remember how heavy my 10K was, fast charging's not really a selling a point for me, I think I'll pass

1.5 lbs! ?
And half of us couldn't put our shelter up if it is in use!:banhappy:

Still haven't found a backpacking chair lighter than the floor yet:angelic:
I agree, I really can't fathom anyone carrying an inadequate chair when backpacking. I guess people convince themselves that they need one and then feel obliged to take it having paid good money for the thing.

During the day I keep walking until I find a wall, rock, bank or tree to lean against. At night I just feed myself and get into bed.

I'm not a UL fanatic, but another 700g+ of what a weenie might call unnecessary g, has to carry my load more comfortably, keep me warmer/drier or better fed(or inebriated)! Not be an occasional chair which is only useful if my shelter isn't pitched;).

I can’t see it either; folk dribbling on about ultralight this, that, and the next thing, and then stick a bleddy chair in their pack. They’ll be taking UL tables next...

I used to always carry my stool if I was in company and it was a steady trek.

The grams I'd saved elsewhere eased the burden and the comfort and practicality of it was always welcome....
Mine will be put back into service in a couple of weeks... No previous gram gloating guilt will be felt... Just joy... :whistling:
