Yes, I did say "officially" some seem to be unlocked some aren't. I tend to just use them as foul weather boltholes, I've shared them with too many weekend bender parties.

Indeed. I was dreading arriving if there was a group of loud kids there as I was proper knackered and just wanted to climb into quilt and relax.

I planned to go a bit further that day but when I noticed the bothy on route I decided to call it a day there and get some rest as knew next day would be hard around the loch.

Stay in Tyndrum and go to the café 🥳
Also if it is truly horrible and you want to get out of the wet they have some "rooms" in a big shed at the camp site. You can just open your bag and scatter its contents all over the "room" like I did  I don't even like Bud, must have been all they had at the shop at the petrol station.

I've not stayed in Rowchoish bothy but it has a reputation - for not being the "nicest" bothy there is.
So don't judge all bothies on your experience there - some of them are very "nice" :)

I'll be honest I thought it was nice except for the Evil Dead vibe 😂

Pretty clean and tidy.

Supposed to be thunderstorms and heavy rain here all day - zilch so far and it does look like it's going to ATM .......

PS. - just mentioning it ^^^ will undoubtably have changed the outcome

Well in typical fashion as soon as I bought my tickets it started to clear up and blue skies appeared 😂

Rather not take risk though. I don't mind a bit of rain but chance of storms with thunder and lightening while marching through Highlands and only having a Hexamid as shelter is less appealing than bailing out and coming back another day 🙂

Indeed. Still a bit of faff to put up quickly though or maybe find area big enough.

I'm going to be doing bit of digging on Tinternet for a 4 season shelter I think or at least one I wouldn't mind using in bad weather that is quick to pitch.

May look at a Plexamid or AltaPlex as they're an AIO design with better space for Admin compared to the Hexamid.

Thanks but I know how to pitch the TS. Its still a bit of a faff in wind and rain a d awkward to get in and sort inner out or ground sheet etc. Don't get me wrong I loved my TS and has awesome room for Admin and would use it again but my comment was within context of wanting a quick AIO type system. I'm edging towards a Scarp 1 for mid weight or a Zpacks tent for lower weight.

Those curved pole jobbies are a bit of a faff in the wind aren't they. Maybe a TT Notch if you want quick to pitch.

Maybe a Duomid, it's three times the weight but it don't fear no rain. ;)
