Water filter recommendations

On the question of yucky tablets, I still carry some in my FAK as a backup in case of filter failure because they weigh very little (7g for 30 x 1L tablets). They're Chlorine Dioxide instead of Chlorine, so don't taste anywhere near as bad.

Used the water filter last night first time, not dead so that's good

Flow is slow, the lid is a pita but happy with it

Do you just pop them in the oven at a low temp? I occasionally have a glut of delicious Parasol mushrooms and would love to store some.
Yes - about 35C with the door closed in a fan oven. The higher temperatures will turn Beech Boletes black (doesn't affect flavour but it's not the best look). I don't know how well Parasols dehydrate though - their liquid content is very high.

Thread resuscitation. I’m looking for a filter that fits on a solid bottle. I can’t live with the floppy bottle syndrome. I can’t keep them in the pockets of my rucksacks. Having been out in fine weather over the past few days, I want a filter system that works. I have a CNOC bladder and a sawyer filter, which is fine for camp when I’m lying down and gravity is doing its work, but it’s a bit of a pfaff when I’m struggling manfully on In the middle of a walk. Lifestraw? Anything else.

You could try the Miniwell L630...It's a tiny bit larger in diameter than a Sawyer Mini, with at least twice the flow rate, and unlike the Sawyer it has a standard 28mm female bottle thread at both ends, not just one end.
That means you can filter directly from one PET or collapsible bottle to another PET or collapsible bottle, without needing to carry adapters and/or hoses. It also makes backflushing it an absolute doddle.
It weighs 43g, so a bit more than a Sawyer Mini but it's a lot lighter than a Sawyer Squeeze which has a similar flow rate.

Screw a Hydro Blu Versa on any compatible bottle and squeeze the bottle while sucking on the filter output? You can do that one handed. If you are the only one using the filter, it doesn't matter that you lick the other side
