Must admit I'm looking forward to seeing Dan's X-Dome. The other new dome didn't trigger any desire. Glad I love my Trekkertent Edge. That can be a SOB to pitch when rusty at start of its season but great when you're back in its groove.

I've actually bought a Lanshan 1 for my spring to autumn wanderings & will be adding a load of mods gleaned from YouTube plus an A pole set up.

I sold my scarp to fund my tramplite. Now Ive sold the tramplite I'm wondering if I should buy another scarp. This unicorn thing is contagious.
I'm presuming you are tall though so it's harder for you haha

There's no perfect tent I'm fully aware, I do like trying different tents

TBF last night no tent would of been dry,

What we need is a strong 3 pole dome tent that weighs 1500g, fly pitch first

My mate offered to lend me his Scarp 1. He describes it as massive & I agree! Interesting different perspectives. I've declined as I'm not sold on the new poles yet. Definitely not on Ultra.
Carbon?

I'm not a fan of carbon as they break, least Ali will bend

The scarp is huge inside

Personally i think the scarp ultra is perfect for your needs.
Solid in wind, large enough and light for something so robust. I can't for the life of me see anything more suitable for your overnighrers

While I see the appeal of the scarp, I feel that it's redundant a bit, now that dipole is a thing.
Not quite sure about that, probably depends on your perspective. Personally I have a Dipole and have never had a Scarp (unusual for this forum), and never been that tempted, but I can see why for those who don't use trekking poles or don't want to use trekking poles the Scarp is an obvious choice.

I also suspect that for most people it will be easier to pitch the Scarp than Dipole to perform well in strong winds. As an aside, before the existence of the Dipole DW I'd considered the StratoSpire to be the natural trekking pole tent 'equivalent' of the Scarp in the Tarptent range - as for the Dipole a good strong foul weather shelter.

@cuprajake - please do not go near Lightwave Sigma tents - many owners report problems in heavy rain. I think almost all TL members who had one, has moved it on. Reports of major leakage at doors on the S22. Check out the separate thread we have on them.

I''ve also experienced serious leakage in a Crux tent of the same material.

However, I have kept my Sigma S15 for short trips when I do not expect heavy rain. I still carry a footprint which I can use as a tarp over the S15 if I do get caught in heavy rain....

I do like the S15 as it is a decent size, reasonably windworthy - I've upgraded to 9.6mm poles - and packs up small.

I currently have just the one tent that's the xmid pro

I weighing up multiple options, ranging from 1500g-2400g

First dibs on the x-dome
It's not floating my boat, I want something good for the wind,

And I'm not sure it will be it, esp when you have people saying the niak, and unna fold in on themselves, and there what I'm presuming to be heavier gauge tents

I did look at the tarptent dome, but the ultra and the fact you have to seal the inner bath tub put me off.

Then I got the scarp, quite liked it, so ordered the ultra fly as its a good upgrade, but the materials just not for me,

I had a good offer on the scarp, user read the ad and knew about the need to re seal happy days.

It's easy to run away with the weight, you think average weight I've been using is 1500g, then a niak is a bit more, a unna 2k, abisko 2k, the nallo 2.2k

I know most have different tents for situations, but tbh I've been out at least once a month, and the tents never been baking hot lol.
