The "what have you made today" thread

on a singerc201k, to allow for stretch, you have to sew the parts together stretched out. A zig zag attachments are availalble, but they move the fabric [i guess fairly unreliable to get an even seam, rather than the needle going side to side conventionally] . I doubt with synthetic fabric it would be a reliable or neat seam. ;)
alternatively As cathyjc said smaller stitches but with looser seams,by adjusting top & bottom Tensions ...

Not really 'what have you made' but I've modified the lid for a Toaks 700 pot. I have other Toaks pots which are OK, but on this one the lid flipped really easily. I simply unrolled the edge - a slow process with heat and screwdriver gradually opening it out. Its not a perfect finish, but the lid is a much better fit now.

Prototyping new pack and straps.
I never made a pack with a collar. I always did the panels all the way to the top. This collar has a waterproof #5 zipper.
Fabric is velocity nylon from adventurexpert.com

Pack is 36 liters to the collar and another 14l in the collar (next time I'll make a bit smaller I think)
Hipbelt velcros's too the pack behind the lumbar lad.
The hipbelt is make with a stitchbackgear.com pattern. But it to wide for my liking so I'll redo it again grr..

On the inside there is a zippered sleeve for foam sheet/carbon frame/ hdpe sheet. Depending on the kg in the pack.

Straps are based on fastpack straps. They are quit comfy! 2 sternum clips on both sides. I made the piping by folding fabric over a piece of cord and sew as close as possible with a zipper foot. Pretty easy to do. But very important to get the right seize cord in. The one I used is a fraction to small. But it holds the clip.

The straps are attached with buckles so I can remove if the fit isn't right. Prototype = trial and error :) so I wanted everything to be removable. Well as much as I could anyway.

Cords, sternum straps etc to be made yet...

Another pole jack, need a cap for it now.

A-frame adapter for trekking poles
Not 100% happy with the shrink wrap finish, think I might go back to plan A and chop up that pencil case that waved to me on the shelf for that purpose, probably what MLD uses 😉

Can you recommend a 3d printer on the budget end of things?

I've used Shapeways to print some gimbal parts. I think the European office is in Holland. I took about up to two weeks, but I never had issues with them.

Here's my referral code which gives you (and anyone else) $15 discount on your first order: UVNYEJ

Interesting. Had no idea these kind of services existed. Very handy

New pole extender for the Duomid, 51g.

_DSC5043 (Large).jpeg

23cm of 16mm pole section with a flicklock at one end end & a 10cm piece of 14mm pole glued in the other end. Pretty robust when inserted into the BD Trail Pro's & gives a max pole length probably 5 cm longer than needed (handle up & tip into ground) even with large ventilation gap around the Duomid.

If you have 14mm tubing and flicklock poles, why not use that to replace the lower sections of both poles? It would be lighter and probably stronger too.
