Fascinating what this wee beastie can do in App and with AI on your phone, no pc needed.

Video well worth watching fully if you are thinking of getting one of these. (and it gives you something to do in the tent) :)

Nice - time for me to buy a 15 if that means they're going to be cheaper now - I just want the satellite transmitter (which my 11 doesn't have) so that I can ditch my 117g PLB which expires in a few months time.
If you buy a 15 and you want the AI make sure you buy the 15 pro or 15 pro max as it has a bigger processor to run the AI.

I just signed up for a waiting list for the 'Smart Sim' by Honest Mobile. It's an eSIM add-on to your current SIM and it'll allow you to use other networks' data if your primary network's signal isn't strong enough. They have limited number of apps that you can use with unlimited data, and the list is supposed to grow. The usual suspects as Whatsapp, Google Maps etc are already available. It also provides unlimited data roaming according to the website. I think this is an interesting product for those regularly on the edge of cell range of your current provider, or for those who travel and use data. The website states the price is from £3.75/mo. If your use case fits, more info here:

I’ve been using an eSIM from “Firsty”. Watch an ad (I ignore it) and get an hour of free slow data. Works perfectly fine with my Google Voice over-the-top texting that I have been using for 15 years (Google long ago became my primary number), and with Google Maps. And on an iPhone the voracious system data stuff remains well-fed (I get notifications for emails, etc).

In any given month I can use 2 gigs of data this way and it is free. Don’t try to use that data for browsing or video; impossibly slow for that.

I just bought 24gb (2gb per month) for Europe from Ubigi running on EE and H3G with decent speeds (5G) in the UK for an ipad mini. Total cost for 12 months was $24

This morning there was an email that my eSim is ready. It says the price is £5/mo. I assume that if you had Honest's own 'Classic Sim', the add-on would cost £3.75/mo. Honest uses Three's network (Honest is a virtual operator). I had to switch away from Three's network as the reception was poor here in Cornwall and EE has the best signal, so went with that when they started shutting down 3G network.

This looks promising as a very compact folding mini-tripod for phones for ~11g.

Yes, I bought in to that along with the mini table that’s also on one of the product launch sites. I’m beginning to think about the added ‘gadget’ weight I’ll be carrying 😱😂😂

I'm not sure that this is the right thread, but I didn't want to start a new one. There's an interesting article on BPL* regarding multipath interference and GPS accuracy.
Could be a reason for pre Fenix 7 owners to upgrade. If you're looking for one.

*Might be behind a paywall

there is a noticeable difference between 6 pro and 7 pro positioning, lock on satellites is much faster too.
