Hi all .Happy Easter.

Looking for a telescopic carbon pole for Tarping- I will be using it for Bikepacking trips hence no walking poles. Anyone have any idea as to what to go for ? Are there any brands I should be looking out for ?

Kind Regards.

Bear bones Bikepacking .Folding not telescopic ,but sells add on pieces that slip on the end to give adjustable height for variable conditions.
or Durston Gear ,folds and has telescopic adjustment on one end.

They do different versions 1-4 different heights etc

Mld and Durston also sell them
As does ZPacks, Tarp Tent and Ruta Locura.

I have a fixed length ZPacks pole, and adjustable Durston and Tarptent poles. Both those are excellent and easy to use, just slightly different in their adjustment mechanism.

I have a Durston pole for my cricket. Really impressed, but it’s very thin at the ends if that makes sense. Not like a trekking pole handle. I use a half tennis ball to stop it pushing the peak out.

I make my own poles from Carbon Fibre these days but before I knew how to, I would buy from makers offering custom length poles, like MLD (Mountain Laurel Designs). I got an MLD 55" (1.4m) x 1/2" (12.7mm) four section fixed CF pole. I could have ordered a 5 section version but it would have been slightly heavier.
