SOTO Micro Torch

started looking at these, now that my burnt thumb from the weekends stove lighting fiasco has gone down a bit...

any one used one of these, opinions? vertical is a wee bitty lighter, but i wouldn't be adverse to the horizontal version if recommended. is there anything better, im kinda done with bics/clippers tbh and i feel a man of my stature should have a nice lighter

I've had the vertical one for some time now, haven't used it in winter cold yet or altitude yet, but for use here so for in Ireland it's been great.
Comes with a warning not to be used to light cigarettes or pipes, and only keep lit for I think 30sec a time or something like that. 😁

For comparison the micro torch and a bull brand lighter from the euro shop that I use for stuff the torch warns about. 😇 Both filled with same butane ligher gas.20210909_174918.jpg20210909_174930.jpg

I've just got the extendable one from soto. Been much easier lighting my alcohol stove in the cone. Only been out with it once so can't comment on longevity but they get decent reviews.

I've also recently got the extendable one from Soto. It works very well. It is lighter and I think works better than the Primus Power Lighter, as well as having the extending function

Does it burn through its fuel quickly?

Many years ago I had a similar lighter but it burnt thriugh its gas so quickly it was barely worth the effort using it

I only use it to light the stove, haven't noticed it burning through that quick. But I only turn it up full if need to, it probably would burn through fast enough if used at full all the time, it's a big flame. Hard to say how long it lasts as I normally top it up each trip just in-case, but most my trips are only a few days and for my use it takes very little.
Did you buy the Soto gas cylinder adapter or just use lighter fluid?
I've only been using normal butane lighter gas with my soto, works fine so far, but no real winter use with it yet.
