Keeps you wedged in the middle of the pad, my xtherm was the mummy shape,

All personal preference, I wouldn't change for the sake of it like I did

My wife and I both use XLites; hers looks like new, mine ... doesn't.

I don't keep my stuff long enough 😂 I'm also a clean freak, so have incredibly high standards, which is why I most buy new, and most peoples good condition is 💩

Just back from my Spain bikepacking trip and my Uberlite mattress has bitten the dust (baffles blown again).

I’m going to return it - given that it’s my third one, I am hoping that TR do offer to replace with the Xlite because I can’t be bothered keep sending them back……
Update, just received my replacement Xlite NXT from Thermarest 👍

Great customer service, as usual.

Only problem is the 110g weight penalty, but I do think that the Uberlite may be an example of a product being slightly too light and delicate for it’s intended use…..

Came across the Hybridcore mat by Robens which seems to be new for 2024. Does anybody have experience with it?

Not too lightweight, but couldn't find a similar R-value for the price. No pump bag included, I reckon? Do they have the same valves as Exped Ultra mats?

Same weight as my exped dura 6 downmat and that's got like 100d top and 200d bottom or something nuts 😆

Result! Did you request the Xlite or did they just send it instead?

“The more comfortable Trail Pro is a generous three inches thick and weighs in at 30 punches.”

I wonder what the “pop ability“ might be?

Why use inferior quality down in the warmer mat? 🧐🤷‍♂️

Why use down in a mat? Wouldn't it be really susceptible to damp?
Down works well in sleeping mats. Is lighter and longer lasting than synthetic insulation. Mostly used for really cold weather stuff. I have an exped Dura 6 for winter and it's ridiculously warm. If you somehow get a leak somewhere then then down immediately fills the hole, stopping the leak and making it easy to find the hole/repair it. So it's quite reliable. The most annoying thing with down pads is the down moving around and never being quite sure how it's distributed. But I found that once you have held the pad up to the sun/light and got the distribution correct then it doesn't tend to move around so much under normal usage.

Down will never contend with thermarest tech under non winter conditions but I like the reliability of down in harsh winter conditions. In regards to moisture, I think it's a non issue. Haven't heard of anyone having moisture issues inside down pads

Late to the party, but I can’t see the point of down in a sleeping mat.
Down retains warmth by creating an insulating air gap. Air mats are already insulated air gaps. Surely the suspended heat shield principle adds greater insulation than down which adds no further air gap??
