But they (stackry) don't open them. If you request to leave original packaging?

I was a bit disappointed with the packing organisation of my last consolidated delivery... It could have easily gone into a smaller package 😭

I haven't tried that option, but it says on their website that they open all the packages.

I guess it depends on the repacker as well?

I've done 8 parcels with Stackry so far.
All consolidated down into smallest possible box, taped up with blue tape.
And usually 5-10 days to delivery using the cheapest option.

This has been really helpful. I'm going to try out stackry for a purchase from ebay but I'm still not clear on what stackry will actually charge for the service? Using their shipping calculator I can see the price for shipping and on their website the charges for additional services if you request them, but nothing about whether they charge a percentage on the item or a flat fee.... ??

Do they always charge the '$25 commercial invoice' - is that their term for filling out the customs declaration?

I somehow just don't trust the price I see on the calculator will be the ONLY price I have to pay them to ship it once they have it in their warehouse.

What's been your experience with the charges?

I think the referal code isn't working anymore either

My experience is with another forwarder but, usually, there is no fee for just sending on one single package (fees kick in when you combine different packages into a single shipment), they make their money on the shipping rates because they have big discounts on these which they don't pass on to you. The percentage you see quoted under "Special Handling Fees" is only if they buy it on your behalf.

If you need more information than they provide on the website about the parcel, they sometimes charge $5 for additional photos. $5 is also charged for repacking and consolidation, additional protection etc.. They open and check every parcel and relabel them with the details you provide.

You fill in the customs declaration on the website yourself.

I've only been charged for repacking and consolidation. Repacking is only offered when they see that it's possible to repack and save in volume.

This referral link should be working, it's active, I just checked it. https://www.stackry.com/register?referral=7177233

One thing to know is that they don't accept non-tracked parcels, so make sure when you make your order with the US reseller, they use a trackable delivery service.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks for clearing that up, I wasn't aware about them only accepting tracked parcels so that's good to know.

When I signed up I used your referral code but there's no $10 credit in my account, perhaps I should have used the entire link instead of pasting the code into the sign up page that I'd already filled out.

In your experience how was Import Duty and VAT handled? Is it something that can be calculated and paid through Stackry before it leaves for the destination or will it always be held up at customs and then you have to pay the bill to HMRC before you can receive the item?

I think there is also a standard fee of about £12 from customs for dealing with the item on top of the +20% VAT they charge on the goods themselves. I'm just not sure how to pay the VAT after the point of sale without it being held up and charged a handling fee on top of just paying the actual VAT.

Is this everything that will cost to get the item through the door?...

Ebay item cost plus Shipping - send to Stackry location (no charge)
+ Pay Stackry for shipping (exact weight and size probably not know until this point) and any additional services if needed
Fill in customs declaration on Stackry
Pay Customs Duty and VAT on declared value of goods including shipping of plus 20% + £12 handling fee?

Maybe it doesn't show until you get to checkout?? Interested to hear the answer to this

I’m half sure my account didn’t show any credit either but when I processed the first package received a $10 discount

That can't be calculated or paid through Stackry, as they they only package & ship. You declare the contents and the value of the item on Stackry site and they just slap the label on for the courier.

The courier will handle the duties processing and will contact you with the details.

You can use this calculator to estimate the duties & VAT.

I use DHL Global Mail shipping option and this is the email I received for an item I marked the value as $30

You have recently placed an overseas order from Stackry LLC that was shipped with DHL Global Mail. In order to release your shipment from Customs we kindly ask you to pay the incurred import charges to HM Revenue & Customs.

Payments should be remitted to Customs Clearance Limited, the authorised clearance agent of DHL Global Mail US in the UK. Customs Clearance Limited is acting as approved and authorised agent to collect import taxes due on behalf of HM Revenue & Customs.

Once the charge has been paid, your order will be delivered to you within 2-3 working days.

Charges due
Customs Entry £ 8.50
Import Duty £ 0.00
Import VAT £ 4.96
Total £ 13.46

Then just follow the link in the email and pay the fees and the parcel will moving within 24h again.

Thank you, that's helped a lot. If a parcel is not sent with a tracking number to Stackry do they reject it and it gets sent back to sender?

Hi, I have availed myself of Odd Man's Stackry referral, but I have a query - has anyone ordered from Gossamer Gear? I'm wondering whether their free Shipping to a US address is tracked, since as I understand it, Stackry won't accept the package otherwise. Is Stackry classed as a P.O Box? I could ask GG tomorrow but thought I would ask here first! GG say:
  • Free Shipping
    • For orders of $75 or more.
    • If you select this option, we will choose UPS Ground, USPS First Class, USPS Priority or FedEx Ground based on your product and shipping address.
Will you ship to a P.O. BOX?
YES. PO box orders must be shipped via USPS and typically take 2 - 5 business days to arrive. If your shipping address is a PO BOX we can only send your package via USPS.

Cheers!

I've ordered 2 packs from GG and they were sent with UPS and were received by Stackry with no issues. I also received tracking info from GG. Both orders were over $75.

Stackry is not a PO Box, there's a person receiving all the deliveries during their opening hours.

would u still expect customs on a item marked as warranty, I guess if a value has been added there's now way around it?

You do the customs declaration (item description, value and quantity) yourself, but there's no option to fill in such information (gift, merchandise, etc). If you use these parameters, you'd be liable to pay the duties unless the value is marked under $20.

I'd reached out to Stackry support and enquire about the warranty return if you're expecting such thing.

Seems a bit harsh if you already got stung on the original item
Well I didn't because it's a item from seekoutside garage sale, my contact marked it as warranty it hung around customs for 4 or 5days for revised charges 🤷. anyway I've paid it. 😟

How is the Stackry process working with the new VAT import duty changes?

Not really relevant, as you declare the contents & value and then the courier processes the import duties (if any). I use mostly DHL Global Mail and I get an email with the duty fees, pay them online and the parcel gets released within 24-48h.
