In French but with AI overdub.

They are choosing to sew it together...Big mistake!...Seems almost guaranteed to leak at the seams and for the seams to get ripped apart in high winds...DCF should always be bonded together with no stitching for maximum seam strength and to keep the seams 100% waterproof. Still if that doesn't bother you, the weight is very low, and the price is right, go for it.

Its a kilo, so for me personally theres not that much weight saving over a normal tent,
Good point.
Plus dcf so will pack large
Not sure where you got that from?...My 330g 1.5P real tree camo DCF pyramid tent fit's in a smaller bag than my 950 FP down sleeping bag. So after I compress the sleeping bag down further with a strap around the bag they are pretty much the same pack size.

From the various dcf shelters ive had, compared to their sil counter parts they pack larger and squash less,

An xmid 1 packs smaller than an xmid1pro for example

I got these as I was getting some mild arthritis in my hands - and worn overnight they did help the arthritis.
But they also make great sun protection when hiking :angelic:.
Inexpensive
Are you a big coffee drinker by any chance?...It's a fact that drinking more than 3 cups of coffee a day increases the risk of getting Arthritis by 45%.

doesn't it offer a lot of the wishes here for the X-Dome?
DCF instead of poly, no hubs but full poles, lighter (and bigger), sleeves instead of clips, alu instead of carbon, single-wall (adds to the lighter) ... sounds like a future X-Dome Pro ; )
The X Dome Pro is only 57g lighter so there's not much in it.

I was particularly impressed with the ZPacks pocket tarp…that’s DCF - packed the size of a grape And there’s very little difference between a SilNylon or DCF Phreeranger.

Maybe material weights and jointing methods play a part in packed size. Particularly if there’s lots of seams which will add bulk.

The cheaper version of the Samaya Alpinist2 shares the same breathability as the more expensive Dynema version…
“the ALPINIST2 has been designed to meet the demands of mountaineering. Its Nanovent® single-wall design offers weather protection (10,000 mm) and ventilation (40,000 g/m²/24h) far superior to market standards.”

oh yes, single wall tent that is over one kilo.
Despite your whinging, you're still missing the point - this tent is not trying to compete with single wall trekking pole tents. It's a freestanding tent with a complete pole structure that is competing with more storm worthy, double wall freestanding tents, but at a lower overall weight. Something it seemingly achieves quite admirably IMO.

something that bd first light achieves for decades at a fraction of a budget.

I had a BD Firstlight for years - it's a decent tent, though its interior space isn't as usable as the HMG, it's not great in rain, and it's over a pound heavier... but yeah, keep comparing apples and oranges, that seems to be working for you.

so you had it for years, despite apparently hating it.
