Selling on trek-lite

I've applied the changes this afternoon so now only supporting members can sell items on trek-lite.

I've also started to go through some of the older posts and will be deleting any I find from non supporters, I also intend to delete a lot of older posts which are either sold or have sat dormant for a long time.

Is it useful to leave the items up that have already sold? I know some people refer to previous threads to get an idea of price. I can do this but I'd like to get rid of the older stuff if I can, say anything over 6 months and sold gets deleted?

Thanks for your support guys :)

You could create a sub-forum for the "For Sale" forum called "archives" and just move old/done stuff in there, that is what a couple of German Forums I frequent do, works quite nicely, maybe you could set up a script that moves posts automatically when the OP uses a specific tag in his thread title ([sold] for example) to limit your manual work with it

I've decided to delete them altogether Gonathras, the sold items that is, I'll leave any unsold that are less than twelve months old

If you leave them, they may increase traffic If the for sale section is indexed by search engines.

E.g. if I search Google for MLD Trailstar and there are 10 sold adverts for them then I may bring a potential trailstar owner to look at our lovely little forum.

This. Much better to keep topics rather than delete them for this reason.

So, to clarify, if someone becomes a supporting member, could they now sell on here without 50 posts?

Re deleting sales posts.
I suppose it's possibly useful to look up an item's history if it comes up for sale more than once.

Just to be clear - to sell something I would have to either become a supporter or make 10(50?) posts? Either is fine but just want to check :)

You just need to be a supporting member snow, I still haven't worked out how to combine the donation and a minimum post count.

Hi,

Hoping someone can clarify something for me - I understand I can't, as a non-supporting member, create a sale ad, but am I ok to respond to a supporting member's wanted ad? 🤔 (I don't want to get into trouble now 🙂).

Thanks,

And what about creating ads for things you want to give away rather than sell? Sort of "free to a trek-lite home"?
