Power Banks etc

other than for camping, power saving modes are like buying an UL tent or pad, then adding the weight back with ground sheets, foam pads etc for peace of mind that they will last longer....
or like running a sports car with regular unleaded... why have the power & performance if you keep the limiter on? 😂

Unless you need 5g you can switch it off. Otherise it's always searching for it. When backpacking I switch mine off overnight. During day I have it on airplane mode which doesn't affect GPS.

Nah - more like trimming further weight off or chipping the engine for performance that matters.

Right so have made some settings changes and created a routine where it goes into airplane mode from 10pm 'til 5am and turned off the 5G setting, so let's see if this makes a difference.
The P30 was a great phone and the S24 is not a patch on it, it's like Samsung have gone out of their way to over complicate simple settings and hide them in really hard to find places with bizarre names, to the point where you have to google anything you want to do or change on it. Plus the interface icons looks like a child's cartoon book.

What performance? There in no tarmac to perform on, I mean no signal.
The reason why I buy high end phones is camera and camera only, by the way.

I changed from a Huawei P30 pro which had an incredible battery life, but the screen is now kerfecked so I bought a Samsung S24 which is absolutely woeful on battery usage during the day. The P30 would need charged every 1.5/2 days whereas the S24 needs charged again during the day :( It even looses about 20% charge over night when in DND mode. Thought I'd get a wee power bank for during the day at work and thought a cheapish UGREEN would fit the bill but they seem to have shot up in price from when I saw them last. Has anyone seen any cheap deals for a UGREEN 10000 30W? Cheapest I've found is 40 Eur on Prime.

K:)

Turn on Battery saver mode. It will lower CPU cycles, screen res and some background data etc.

i have my old p30 pro right now on the table, and the difference between it and pixel 7 pro photos is quite something. Especially in a lowlight. Stuff pixel does is a thing of beauty.
(i've picked this photo just for a tech demo)

Not sure, the bracket clips into small notches on both sides. You might be able to use a 18650 -> 21700 adapter or a small magnet.
Not sure if charging 18650s and 21700s at the same time is ok.

I actually wanted a pixel 9 but they were out of stock over here and they couldn't say when the would be back in stock so went with the S24 and now beginning to regret it 🥺

Samsung improved moderately with s24 ultra, at s23u, when i was picking my current phone, it had been acid as hell, i would've never bought it.
there is no huge difference between 9 and 8 pro pixels in terms of camera performance, by the way. One would really struggle even finding much diff even with 7 pro, if you don't compare side by side, but obviously progress is there.

Oh, haven't noticed that on mine.
I think I'll make a plastic strip to go between the poles for storage, just to be sure.
I'll recharge both batteries and check again in a couple of days.
I know I did do some initial testing to see how it performed with different cables to my phone. That was only a few seconds for each cable and each port.
