Photo frustration

Anyone else struggling with uploading photos via Android?

If I use upload a file and tap the choose file button the file browser doesn't open for me.

When I click the upload a file option it opens the window and immediately shows no file uploaded.

If I tap the button to upload the file you can see the button change colour momentarily so it looks like it is attempting to open the file browser and failing.

Motorola phone on Android 8.1.0.

Fine for me, Samsung on Firefox
Is that a salsa Pete? Looks like there's some good long distance biking around the forests of Dumfries and Galloway, but probably not first choice for a fat bike. I've been to a couple of the stains up there Ae and Kirroughtree, had that nice and remote feeling even though they are trail centres.

Aye. An old 2014 Mukluk.
Galloway is OK for a fat bike. Not ideal for the forest roads and obviously its a big sucky on tarmac, but Galloway can be really muddy in places off the forest roads. I'd quite happily take it up there if I had no other bike to take.

Just tried to upload a photo and constantly got the "image cannot be uploaded from the passed link" message. I tried BB code, share and embed from Flickr. What should I be doing? Or can only paying members upload photos?

I clicked on the "insert image" icon and put in the BB code. I didn't try it with

When uploading photos using Chrome (from my hard drive) I sometimes get a 'parsing response failed' error. This does not happen consistently, sometimes it is fine. This is on a PC, using Chrome. It happens with any photo I try but then (sometimes) I can then take one of the photos I tried, edit it a bit and resave and then it will work for no apparent reason. Any ideas?

From a Developer of the XenForu forum software:

"It's not something we directly expose, but it's also something that shouldn't happen without some sort of external issue. Notably, server limits or (as I pointed out in my other message) a browser extension breaking things.

They may wish to try uploading via the "attach files" button to see if that gives a different error message, which may help point to the underlying issue.

Thanks. When trying to upload a photo file it seems to do so without an error message, though once done this I can't see the photo and if I click on it the message is lost. Not sure if that helps...

Tried another bowser (Edge) and playing with extensions, but still get the error message. However the same file will upload from my phone just fine (and the draft will then display in the desktop browser too). I think I'll give up experimenting as it will probably work OK again tomorrow!

The problem uploading files is happening consistently for me. Using Attach files the browser console shows net::ERR_HTTP2_PING_FAILED. Attaching an image gets the parsing response error. 🤷‍♂️

For the time being I've given up trying to upload photos from my computer due to the parsing error message and use my phone instead, which is working fine.

I have a new problem whereby I can no longer post photos from my (Android) phone either...

The function to upload a photo (and the text formatting functions etc) is greyed out and I can't work out why or how to activate it. I'm using Chrome. Any ideas?

Try tapping on the three dots farthest to the write and then on the square brackets in the drop-down menu. That should toggle posting modes (which affects more options than just the ability to post photos).
