OS map

Hello,
Normally, I use an app called 'Topo GPS' for hiking in the EU. It provides a topo map (1:25.000) and I can download the map offline, I can import a GPX file and it will pin me on the map with GPS. However, for some reason the app asks €29 for a one-year subscription for the 1:25K map of the UK, which is a lot I think. If I want to buy only the area of the Cape Wrath Trail, it costs more than €50.
Is this normal, or is there a cheaper way to get a good 1:25K topo map on an app with this functionallity for the CWT? Thanks in advance!

There's a 14 day free trial for OS Maps Premium, not sure if it applies to the mobile app also but could be worth checking out.

The quality of TopoGPS is much better than compared to the OS app. Well worth the subscription cost for the better app performance and ease of use.

I've been getting to grips with Topo GPS over the last few days and find it quite good - particularly the ability to save POI's, a feature that OS Maps sadly doesn't offer.
However, the one thing I do find a bit frustrating is the hit and miss nature of printing. Despite having purchased a few OS 1/25k tiles, it seems to insist on printing only OSM format. Maybe this is the case? Maybe I'm missing something?
I'd be interested in any user experience of this app as there's quite a lot I do like about it.

Would it be worth opening a new thread?

**EDIT: Ignore most of the above as I appear to have sorted the printing issue, though I'd still be interested in user experience of this app.**

Thanks,
Glyn

hmm.. I've downloaded 4 tiles covering an area north of the A66 covering Skiddaw, Blencathra and all of the Fells to the north @ 1:25k for £1.98

...though I'm not sure I find downloading tiles as intuitive as it could be, certainly not compared to Viewranger.

Ah, yes, I now realise you was replying to the original post.

I also use OS Maps but have found it a bit glitchy lately, mainly being very slow to load and also not fully displaying downloaded (offline) maps. I was considering Topo GPS as a possible replacement but I'm not really 100% convinced.

Have a look at Memory Map too if you are considering changing. It can integrate with desktop software which can make planning routes easier

I don’t print from Topo. I also use OS maps, mostly for printing and also to compare maps to satellite view for route planning. I also use Memorry Map for All - I use this to create routes and export to GPS because I can easily change the waypoint name to say ‘turn left’ for off road cycling. My goto app is Topo because I find it easy to use and use it more often than not as a digital map when out.
