Need advice for a 1p tent setup to weather Wales a Scotland conditions

Hi all.
Im trying to convert my gear to a lighter weight set up and also start solo hiking. Want to get a one person tent but feel slightly overwhelmed by everything if honest. Need something that can weather UK, live in the Brecon beacons and would like to explore other areas of the UK including Scotland. Budget max around £200 and would prefer UK or Europe supplier as I expect they'd be cheaper considering shipping fees.

Have looked at the lanshan as seems very popular, but I've also heard it's nots the greatest quality.
Also looked at the trekkertent stuff but it's very much max of my price range.

And recormendations would be much appreciated.
Thank you

Oooh...many answers.

The lanshan is fine but wouldnt use mine for summit camping.
Lots of decent preloved tents atm.
Backpackinglight have some decent affordable tents.
Wild Country helm or Zephyros.
Vango F10 Helium.

Depends where you want to camp and what weight tent you want to carry.
I avoid summit camping in my trekking tents and pitch a bit lower to get some shelter.
For forest camping you'll need a tougher tent.

If you are a sensible height Luxe Hexpeak V4a fly only and if you decide you want an inner or bathtub floor buy one later from Aliexpress. They are better/lighter/cheaper than the luxe one.

I guess i want something that's a decent enough all rounder that I can take it anywhere that isn't an extreme. Would like something light if I can (under a kg would be perfect) and quite like the idea of the treking pole tents for saving weight.

At under 6 ft, the Luxe @PhilHo recommended is a good option. and with a pair of sturdy trekking pole upper sections joined by a good aluminium tube, you'll be well set up for supporting it. You might consider a stronger dedicated pole for more remote locations in Scotland.

At 5'9" the world is your oyster :) and I reckon a Luxe Hex Peak v4a fits your requirements as stated in the original post perfectly @Diddi may be along some time to tell you more.

I found a single Black Diamond basic pole fine when I had one but as @Rog Tallbloke says you can join two poles either with a rescued section from an old broken pole or BPL will sell you one for £16!!!!!

Best to use two poles and a joining section so there's plenty of overlap in the tubes. Wind forces can put a LOT of strain onto the pole holding up that much cloth.

Thanks for the help. Out of a pure interest perspective, what rates this above the likes of the Lanshan or similar tents?
I keep hearing loads about the X-Mid as well, but it seems sold out everyhwere I look and i cant seem to find any price for it.
Also, for an inner or bathtub floor, do you hvae any specific recormendations for either? I assume an inner would be better for insect seasons?

I don't understand this bit?
My experience of forest camping is that it can be quite rough with layers of brash, pine cones etc, always hard to find somewhere decent.
I try not to pitch my lighter tents in forests unless I find a really nice spot.

So do you mean for the groundsheet or for the tent overall? I was thinking that for forest camping you can get away with a less strong tent because you're much less exposed to wind.

Stronger groundsheet definitely. I'm sure the fly won't rip easily when snagging on things but I'm just a bit careful.

It's a fair bit roomier and tougher than a Lanshan. A 1.5p inner only takes up half the tent, so there's plenty of space for sitting and cooking in front of the pole, storing dry sticks, drying clothes etc. Suitable inners are plentiful on Ali Express, or I have a spare one that's a bit short for me (but I'm 6' 7"). It's this one

Wales/Scotland + <£200 + 5'9" + readily available in the UK = Luxe Hex Peak v4a

I'd feel much happier in a well pitched Hexpeak in tough conditions than in a Lanshan 1. If you are going to do multiday walks where the conditions are unpredictable the Hexpeak would win every time for me between those two. If you go for the fly only and a bit of polycro you'll have a good lightweight set up and can then decide if you think you need an inner.

The other thing about the Hexpeak is that if you decide it really isn't the shelter for you you'll not have much trouble selling it for 80+% of what you paid for it. I decided I was too tall (6'2") for mine after one night too many brushing the foot end of my sleeping bag against the side. I mentioned I might sell it on here and had PMs from people asking how much I wanted for it.

I suspect that some of the people who could give you real world experience of some of your short list are currently out getting more real world experience :)

I wouldn't worry about the quality of the Lanshan for every person who may have said it's low quality there will be 10 who love it. For example Haze Outdoors has just completed a 14 day trek on the CWT and as far as I'm aware didn't have any problems with it and loved it. From what I have seen 3F UL gear is quite relatively high quality considering the price.

You said in other comment you like idea of a trekking pole tent and so if on a budget, want low import fees and not looking to do anything too extreme the Lanshan Pro is a good option. The Pro version is the lightest inner version as far as I'm aware but standard may be lighter if you remove inner.

Another good option is Luxe mid shelters for trekking poles and can get them sent from Europe.
