Hildegard von Blingin !!!Something cheesy, but I really like her vocals
She has actually sung a piece by Hildegard Von Bingen tooHildegard von Blingin !!!
Too much pipe for my taste but it's totally coherent to do folk covers of punk. Something by SLF or even Crass would make sense.I quite like odd folky covers of other bands
So I thought I'd play this for my 20 year old, who's come back for Christmas today. Of course, he doesn't know the original. In fact, he thought a punk band would be Nirvana or... I can barely write this... Lynnyrd Skynnyrd. I try to be a good father but clearly I've been dangerously negligent.I quite like odd folky covers of other bands
Noticeable influences in their sound include acts such as The Pogues, Brave Combo, Stan Rogers, Boiled in Lead, Gogol Bordello, Goran Bregovic, Dropkick Murphys, and Rancid. The band commonly records and perform sea shanties, polkas and klezmer songs, and are also strongly influenced by English Scrumpy and Western music - in particular the West Country bands The Wurzels and the Surfin' Turnips.[5]
I'll have to check them out. Now having visions (hallucinations?) of "cider klezmer" and the as yet undiscovered Glastonbury synagogue founded by King Arthur with Merlin, chief rabbi of the Somerset levels (and inventor of the Mohican). My current favourite punk band is the Dreadnoughts, which, to quote my daughter, gives "musical whiplash"
