Loch Lomond

I've been in this part of Scotland for twenty years, paddled Loch Lomond many times. Still not seen any Wallabies.

I was aware of them previously but overheard a guy chatting up the ticket assistant about said Wallaby's in Scottland at Skye/ Uig ferry port to Lewis /Harris and he wasn't best pleased an Englishman knew of them 😄
To the point he tried to correct my pronounciation of Lomond many times 🤣... spoilt his chat up line.

I do believe there are or were? around 60 of them.

there is a couple still there, only ever seen them once in 30 years whilst out trolling on the loch with my father in law, he had only seen them once before that & he is on the loch almost every weekend trolling with his small boat.

They live in large burrows on the highest ground on Inchconnachan, I've not been over for a few years though

It looked great from the hill this morning 🙂
Lol! Wish I was up on the hills too!

On a holiday with some older family members so I’ll be restricted to daily lowland walks & overnights in hotels.

The weather is glorious and I would much prefer to be bivying out on a summit tonight!

Just perfect for midges ....... and yes they are out and biting.
I walked from Blair Atholl over the minigaig and on to Loch Morlich over the past 2 days and I met more adders than midgie. I might just be lucky. Even Loch morlich campsite seemed free of them.

It was just too hot for the wee blighters. Even this morning they didn’t seem to get out. I saw an adder on the path on the way over the top sunning itself then yesterday morning my lace became undone and I tried to put my foot up on a bank to tie it only to notice a small movement of what, initially, looked like a bit of root. Closer inspection confirmed it was Hissing Sid. Needless to say I became obsessed with every step after that 😱
