I did the maths, based on this real testing. For a 5 day trip, for 5 boils/ day (my summer minimum) the starting weight, with fuel, for my new set up is within a mouthful of water of my speedster stove set up with 5 days fuel. It’s not the whole story of course and I do just like meths, so a minimalist meths set up will still be my bikepacking go-to. And I know there are lighter meths options out there too so I may well try a DIY cone or X- Boil soon. But for some (not all) use cases, the Windmaster/ HX combo works well for me for a cost and weight saving over some of the proprietary ‘system’ stoves.

The HX pot came very quickly from AliE by the way, maybe a week to be delivered, well packed and the last leg by RM. Lots of places to get the Windmaster, but beware eBay where there are sites selling only a case (read the small print) for 30 quid!
Nice to see another positive experience with the Petrel/Windmaster combo. I like mine, though I tend to cook in my tent vestibule so the windscreen effect is less important and a conventional pot works fine and saves weight.

Which is one of the reasons why I rarely bother with a brew or porridge in the morning, much prefer to break camp quickly and get a few miles under my belt (the best way to warm up), before stopping for a brew and a cereal bar in a favourable spot. Glad that the new stove is working out for you, but I'll stick to Speedster, I love the quiet and the simplicity of an alcohol setup.
I am one of those people who likes to have breakfast before doing anything (it is my favourite meal of the day...) and can't be bothered with the effort of stopping for hot drinks or using a stove during the day (in the summer I'll often be walking for 11 hours and only stop once or twice for 5-10 minutes for snacks).

So I rather like having coffee and breakfast laying in my sleeping bag (and slowly reaching consciousness) before packing up and setting off for the day. Probably 90% of the time I use alcohol, but sometimes use gas (one of the reasons can be to save a little time when I want an early start when the days are short and I have a long day planned).

I fully accept that I am an 'outlier' when it comes to skipping breakfast - when I wild camp with members of my family, a breakfast brew is deemed essential!

Ha, I only care about the mug. Not a fan of BRS stoves.
Will be interesting to see what the mug weighs by itself, without the insulated cover. It is a pity the handles are integrated into the cover so the mug itself is handleless.
From the photos it looks like it will easily take 500ml.
