Hi everybody :)

I'm new to light trekking, equipment and gear and would love to get some help regarding shopping for gear (such as tent, sleeping bag and other items.

Is there anybody willing to help, advise and consult? Talking through zoom or what's-up will be amazing

Thank you!

Welcome to the forum.

You won't be short of advice here although some of it will be conflicting.

Perhaps if you can give some ideas of whereabouts you live, there will be someone relatively local to you who can show you some of their gear and you can start to work out what you like.

The lightest stuff is expensive and some of it isn't that robust.

If you've done some backpacking before and have some gear then moving to lighter versions of that over time is the way to go.

As most of your carried weight will be in the 'big three' - tent, backpack, sleeping bag, focussing on those will get you to a lighter load quicker.

Ultimately though you need to enjoy backpacking and the you may not find the lightest gear comfortable for you (I can't do frameless packs, much as I like the idea) so it's about working out what works for you.

Hi ShiraG, Welcome!

Keep an eye on the ‘Bargain Alert’ and ‘For Sale’ threads, I have built up most of my kit from these threads for a fraction of what I would have paid at retail prices. People on here take care of their kit which makes it ideal when buying second hand.
