Summit Camper
Greetings everyone
I'm not old, but also not as young as I used to be! Heavy boots and packs make me feel so tired... I have an ongoing project to upgrade my kit.
Many years ago when I *was* young, I did the Dales Way with a friend, with early 90s camping gear. Our packs were huge and weighed a ton, we staggered along at about 0.5mph. And we were constantly humiliated by lightly-packed grey-haired older people, overtaking us. "How come?" we said - "Oh - they're B&Bing it - we can't afford that!"
Now that I am older B&Bing it is no longer out of reach financially, I have done the first few sections of the Pennine Way that way - mainly for the weight saving rather than the creature comforts (though that's nice of course). But it is expensive and you have to book everything in advance - it's not really the "freedom of the hills", which I love.
Looking forward to many useful discussions here
