Heel lock boot lacing

Not only does it lock your heel, there's no restrictive knot at the top preventing you from flexing against the tongue. Generally better for ankle comfort too.

It's a problem for modern hiking boots, because of how they are cut, but at the same time for how low and soft the collar is. I prefer selecting boots with fitting heel cup from the get go.

This needs minimum of 2 hooks but more is better & is a traditional lacing technique. Fitting heel cup is great but you heel isn't going to stay there on its own.

I mean that on hiking boots the lacing goes way lower than on, say, working boots, to give precision when placing the foot. That way the heel part is way less precise.
