Yes, the shoulder straps under load.
I didn’t strip anything off as weight wasn’t an issue.
Very nice pack for the money.

I suspect that if 'stripping it' reduces the weight by 290g you'll be carrying your load with no hip-belt.

One that with all your other gear adds up to less than 10lb. I'd say 1lb/450g for me. You can have a decently durable comfortable UL pack for that.
