Freedom plan/safety. Check-in messages are free, include your location and more than enough to ping your close ones.

im getting confused with it with the 10p charge for location pings, so if it was set to ping every hour id incur a 10p charge for that? tracking?

Or, do you really need one?
I hope I never need mine but it's there ready and waiting just incase...
No good wanting one when you need one 🫤

Plus it can work the other way, if you are off grid for a day/week etc and family need to contact you they can..

Inreach = SOS - Communication 2 way - Mapping/Nav - Weather forcast..

43p a day 365 days .... my life is worth it 😄

this is my quandry -
How as the mobile coverage on your last night out? It's that peace of mind for those situations where you might have a medical emergency on a route that you won't see many other people.

TBH, for my use case I probably need a PLB. I don't get out much, and when I do it's generally quite busy areas, but sometimes it's very remote (especially if I get off track/lost).

zero signal on either mobile phones, different networks also, we had signal black out 30mins away from the venue also

I've been known to take some chances with routing off track, but I still can't get my head round the current trend of.... 'What If?'
I wonder if it encourages Saftey or more... 'devil may care? ' attitude?
I've heard this argument so many times, for cycle helmets, trackers, first aid kits and loads of other stuff. I've still not seen any evidence to back it up. I started carrying an InReach for trips to Sarek, mainly to stop family nagging. I still do just the same trips as I've always done. They do not encourage a "Devil may care" attitude in me or anyone I ever known.
