I think mainly, compact has shorter pole sections? And is the latest version.

I'm getting it from a Swedish store on discount. 1700sek for the 3man version. But not the compact.

Ok so you think construction/materials are the same? And that it's basically just costing more as it's the "new" one? Guylines look yellow on the compact compared to black on the other. Hard to find info on little things like that on their website. You would think from a company like Terra Nova they would have more detailed descriptions. Not to mention the crappy pixelated photos of their gear lol

Well sort of. I think the Hoolie 2 is discounted as it's the old one, and they are shifting old stock.

Agree Terra Nova's site is pretty poor/ old school.

Yeah it doesn't look to be so much difference between them for the price difference. The old one will function much the same I think. Will do the job for two weeks until our Ali express jobby finally arrives. Couldn't convince the partner to join me on the Trailstar this time

I have a Hoolie 2 and it served me, sometimes with my son too, fine for several years until a pole broke in summer 2019. Luckily they include a metal sleeve for just this kind of eventuality, and so, together with some insulating tape (essential kit – the day after mending my pole, we used it to tape up my mate's trike's dodgy wiring... ), it served the rest of the summer. I have no idea how it differs from the "compact" version but I enjoyed the space in my mine.

We took the 3man version. We both are 6,1 and 6ft respectively haha. 2man tents don't do it for us. Not so worried about the poles. Seem to come with 7001 Aluminium poles which is pretty standard these days. I've finally figured out the main difference on the compact versions. Shorter vestibule and moved the centre guylines at front and back and instead an extra guy on the sides to avoid having a guy blocking the door. Won't bother me anyway as will use a trekking pole to keep it further out of the way

I've not heard that before but I will definitely be using it from now on! :)
