    Morning all:)

I have some left over dcf from when i made some wee stuff sacks, i was going to make a wee pack liner just big enough for a day pack for when out and about. I was thinking instead of a draw cord i could use a buckle to make it a roll top, question is can i attached one without any sewing as my skills in that department are absolutely woeful and i don't have access to a sewing machine anymore as i gave it back to the mother in law!
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

I've no experience with DCF at all, but could you make webbing of folded over DCF strip and use that as webbing but instead of sewing the lock stitches etc bond them?

I did have that thought at about 5am this morning when i couldn't sleep with it being so light but wasn't sure it would be a goer.

I've made a sort of webbing substitute by folding and bonding DCF into several layers - but then I had to attach it using sewing .......
I was using it to attach linelocs to a shelter. The attachment point needed to be very strong. You may not need that sort of strength for your project.

I might give it a go as it doesn't need to be that strong, only be able to have a few turns on the roll top. Just worried it won't work and I'll have to cut it off thus reducing the size of the sack.

I have no experience with dcf, but maybe this helps?

That method is using a sewing machine which i don't want to do....no skill!

Are you trying to achieve with buckles what I did with other plastic hardware on my DCF bathtub? Sounds like what @cathyjc and @Lempo are suggesting but mine was taped or bonded.

But you can mimic that with tape.

Instead of sewing, tape down the length of webbing along it's lower edge then roll and tape the roll closed. Obviously, you'll want to be working with bag inside-out here.

Same for the buckles : cut some tape to the desired width and length, lay it on a table sticky side up and glue a rectangular price of scrap cuben in the middle, carefully insert the buckle and glue to the bag.

This is exactly what i'm looking to do but with a buckle and not a line lock :)

Depending what size you are looking for I can give you 2 srips of 10mm grosgrain & a buckle to suit? (Extra from what was sent to fix my pack) 20210610_112707.jpg
