Yeah we are adding a larger 2+ version to the Pro series. Will be here in late October. Its not a 3P tent (e.g. not as big as the Triplex) but quite spacious for two people. It will have a "full coverage" fly that extends low and can be pitched right to the ground to block drafts and splatter.

Have any of the X-Mid Pro users here had the problem with sleeping mats* squeaking on the floor that Ryan Jordan* of BPL has reported?

I don't recall getting previous reports of excessive noise on the Pro tent floors. Perhaps there has been a few but not enough to be something that stood out to me.

However, we are adding a DCF floor option for the 2024 model that will be launched in about 6-7 weeks. My historical opposition to DCF floors is that they are similar durability and weight but add bulk. However, we are using a new version of DCF that uses the thicker mylar layer only the underside (where it's most needed) and not on the top side. This makes it lighter than a 1.0oz DCF and lighter than our woven floor, while being more durable than tents using the thin mylar on both sides of the floor.

We'll be launching that for Pro 1, Pro 2, and new Pro 2+ in late October.

No squeaking. I’ve used several different mats but never a Tensor.
Slip-N-Slide, yes, but fixed using a bit of anti-slip fabric.

May I ask you to elaborate on that? Night temperatures you were facing, latitudes of your hiking? Are those three months the last consecutive three months, or did you experience some shoulder season as well? Where do you hike, US, Britain, other spots?

A devil whispers to my ears that single-roof tents are not so darned uncomfortable, but devils, as it is widely known, want your perdition!

I have been hiking the Hexatrek in France for the past three months, using the Pro 1, starting on June 13th and expect to be finished around October 3rd. Night temperatures have ranged from around 0°C at high elevation (2,500m+) to uncomfortable 25°C during the heat wave in the Ardeche.

I have been very lucky with the weather so far and have been able to have one or both doors open for the majority of the nights, which obviously helps reduce condensation.

I had my most condensation heavy night a couple of days ago (was a weird one as it wasn't that cold and I had the fly door open all night). No water dripped on me and I am short enough, 5ft 10", that neither my head nor the end of my sleeping bag touch the tent walls. It did require a good wipe down with a towel and a quick drying session in the afternoon but, for me, well worth the weight savings and easy of setup.

Did the eagle eyed spot the Lineloc 3s rather than Lineloc Lites on this tent? Looks like possibly a switch back to the Lineloc 3s for the X-Mid (consensus on this forum - I think - is that this will be welcome)
Good eye. 2024 Kakwa55 received lineloc3, would be nice to get same on xmid pro.

The picture I shared it a relatively old prototype and I have made a wide range of improvements since that I'd rather not share (for obvious reasons), so I wouldn't read to closely into the design specifics like vestibule size.

With regard to the reason to do it, there is a large freestanding tent market that aren't interested in trekking pole tents but current offerings tend to be suboptimal in a lot of ways, so I think there is an opportunity to make a more functional tent that improves the experience for those hikers.

I'll have all the details in late October but the 2+ size is aimed at being a palace for two people, so it is not only wider to fit dual wide pads but also taller and it has less rotation on the ridgeline so that headroom is increased especially on the lower side. It'll come in silnylon and DCF floor versions with the latter sub 20oz.

Any updates on the possibility of buying a solid inner separately for an X mid 1 V2. Price and delivery to UK? Think I heard that they might be available in the future??
