Hi, folks. I am Gerry from Louisiana. I just recently stumbled on this forum and have enjoyed reading the various threads. I started hiking in the 70's when I was a boy scout and hiked in my teens and twenties, gave it up in my thirties and resumed hiking in 1998. I would be classified as a lightweight, not quite an U/L hiker and don't get out nearly as much as I'd like. My normal stomping grounds are the mountains of Arkansas but do get out for a week each year with four of my childhood hiking buddies, usually in Washington state. This year we did six days on the PCT. I hope to thru hike the PCT upon my retirement in about six years.

Hello. I'm Luis. Live in Sweden. I go on hikes with my 4 children, whom are born in july 2005, october 2006, april 2009 and march 2011. I actually never go alone. The kids are with me 50% of the time, and with their mother the other 50%. The need for UL-hiking is obvious, wouldn't be possibly with "heavy-duty" gear.
In 2015 we went on three long trips. Currently in the process of training for winter expeditions as well. First up is base-camp in Grövelsjön, Dalarna, with xc-skiing day trips and alpine for fun, in February.
I always plan the trips with the children in mind, so there's always going to be impressive things, even for me. Caves, meteor impact craters, volcanoes, dinosaur tracks, summits, wild animals and other natural wonders. And we have this far only hiked in Sweden.
