What's going on with the latest rucksacks? Are they stitched together with lead wire or something?
And why is the 38L cuben pack 7oz heavier than the 43L nylon pack?

And why does the 43L "Ultra ALpine for fast and light climbing" pack claim: "Large gear loops on either side of chest harness for clipping spare hardware essentials whilst on the move" while having no loops for attaching any climbing gear to on the back? I sure wouldn't want all my climbing hardware dangling around off my shoulder straps catching on bits of rockface while I was leading up the pitch.

Rant over.

I looked the cuben pack up online and there are some widely different specs for it.
Sectionhiker, who I hope weighed his, has it at 588g. Cotswold was the lightest I found before I got bored and gave up, at 478g.

Really?! Most day packs are as much or more unless specifically ultralight or drybag style.

It's features that weigh not the litres of air inside an empty pack?

True, I suppose I've just got used to my own daypack - 465g for 30 litres (Ferrino)

Volumes are contained by surface areas. But features tend to weigh a lot more than minimal cloth as you say.

I thought it was pretty decent for the weight and price. Not so many on the price range with some decent cushioning, side pockets and rear elastic pocket. Bit then again I'm not as minimal as some people maybe on here.

Can you pick up dab signals in the usual uk wild camping areas then? I carry a tiny am/fm radio but 4 extra would be nice...
