As it turns out the embassy are only issuing emergency visas at the moment, only found this after completing the ds-160 form and there web site times out regularly.

Managed to make an account and they took my money but can't make an appointment

Well, under the circumstances, that would be expected as we're in lockdown. I'm sure they'll open up the appointments when they know they can safely do it.

That's actually better than it might have been, I know someone in Oz who couldn't get that far. Hopefully things will improve as covid eases. The US isn't really allowing UK people in at present.

The only embassy that is allowing booking is London for middle of September , couldn't find how to access Edinburgh appointments as that's the closest to me, Belfast is not allowing appointments at all.
It seems that Edinburgh does not issue visas ,can anybody confirm before I book an appointment for London.thanks

This is how it goes, bar the queues:

Prepare to queue, and getting there early doesn't help. Your entry time is your entry time. It's like Disneyland. Once past the queue for the entry and security check you then queue again for the next security check and direction to the waiting lounge where your number will be shown on a screen like a Tescos deli counter. DO NOT look away from the screen......:D

    I found it fun.

I was rather stupidly perhaps surprised by the volume of people there. But it all moved really quickly.

My interview consisted of the guy saying 'hey so you want a free holiday in the US and to call it work; you're in buddy'.

    Kind of.

What documents did you take, you don't need marriage or divorce certificate's or anything like being a house owner.

    I can't really remember TBH.
But whatever I had taken they had looked over quite carefully - given the interviewers comments.

    I folowed this:

    https://theroamingredhead.com/2018/07/30/b2-visa-appalachian-trail/

Took all that she listed, came back with it all.

All I handed over was the passport they never asked for anything else. But that was me. You may look like a dodgy geezer. :D

I also looked at the info in these threads.
